Everyone we met in Galveston was so friendly! We loved shopping and hanging out on The Strand and we ate great at America’s Kitchen, The Spot, Cajun Greek, Brick House and even IHOP was good! Seawall Blvd was busy and lots of people watching. We skipped walking Pleasure Pier as they charge $11 just to walk on the pier. Our favorite part was the night we spent hanging out at the pool bar at the Hilton - the music, staff, drinks, and vibe were amazing!
i went there because my grand-daughter wanted too, i don't like the place. it's too dirty. the beaches from corpus christi on south are better. the beaches in florida are great not like this beach.
Galveston is a great place to visit, with may restaurants and activities. For the younger crowd, (maybe some older) the night life isn't the best. Getting around Galveston is easy, whether in your own transportation or renting a bike, slingshot or other modes of transport on the island. My favorite spots are hanging on the strand and first thing is the morning going for breakfast at Star Drugs Store.
The beaches were great , and the waters were safe as very low waves . The actual resort was a bit like Blackpool in the UK ? Meaning it was quite a down market area. The Seaford restaurant landrys next to our hotel was nice but expensive and closed at 9pm ? Which seems early , as in the uk would be 11pm or later ? Had breakfast in ihop as never been before, but wouldn’t go there again as food wasn’t great -( used tinned fruit for pancakes ) which weren’t that good ? Went to the Waffle House second morning which was much better , and had eggs , bacon etc 10/10 . We understand it’s busier at the weekends so were glad we visited in the week for our first three days of our road trip in Texas .
There are definitely prettier beaches in the US, but Galveston is a okay get away for the weekend. If it's a clear morning the sun rises are beautiful. Moody gardens aquarium and rainforest are a beautiful activity.
Plenty to do here in Galveston. The Strand area, Schlitterbahn, Pleasure pier, and people watching is ALWAYS a stunner (probably the most interesting, and entertaining part). Been coming to Galveston since I was a teenager and have watched it change over the years as well as stay the same. So my review does not challenge the mindset of a new visitors opinion.
Galveston
The hotel is perfectly located just over the road from the beach. The room was very spacious and the balcony with a view was perfect for evening relaxation and listening to the waves. Great, firm bed. Very nice bathroom with miniature toiletries. Microwave, refrigerator, coffee machine, iron, and hairdryer...everything you may need. Great beach not busy. The reception ladies were very welcoming and gave us great recommendations. Good breakfast ( Covid version ). Easy parking. Will definitely come back.
The bed was amazing ! very comfortable, beautiful swimming pool, Wonderful friendly staff, my room was upgraded for no extra charge. Just a very pleasurable visit to Galveston, and the Galvez Hotel is an amazing place to stay for that visit, I've been here before and I will come back again, besides the facilities being the best, the Hotel Galvez have such a friendly helpful staff just makes this the best way to experience, the beauty of the ocean and hotel.
Clean, brandnew, very friendly girl for check in but even friendly woman for check out. Breakfast was the best we had in a week ( ok we paid a little more for this hotel...) Plenty of fruit, oatmeal and not only saturated fatty stuff. Good choice of coffee. We loved the fact that next door is the Golden Corral ( ok some customers look like they've never had a decent meal) where you can pick your choice of healthy food for an affordable price
Omg, we will stay here every time we venture to Galveston. We have stayed at multiple places and even with the construction going on, it was the best JOEY the bartender was a riot and made our trip even better. We literally would come back just to see him again. View from the room was unexpected and awesome. The placement of the hotel is perfect as you can walk across the street and be at the beach with the view of Murdochs and the Pier.
We love multiple things about this hotel. This was our second time staying at this location. We love the location to the beach. The staff was AMAZING! Our dogs barked during the day while we were gone and they were completely understanding about why they were barking. Just so many positives when we come to galveston this is our place of choice. The fact that it's pet friendly is a game changer.
Galveston
Besides the great location, the hotel room was quite nice and clean. The room was big enough for 2 people. The highlight was the beautiful swimming pool and the jacuzzi next to the bar. The beach was really nothing special compared to the beaches in Europe, but......ok. Galveston too was nothing special, just a few nice buildings and that's it......
Personally I like Galveston Island strand with all the shops for clothing to I’m sorry you just can’t go wrong. This hotel sits right in front of Pierre 91 which is a fishing pier very nice location people are friendly staff is great I would definitely recommend.
Location is great. Very close to the beach and the Strand area. Management is exceptional. Duane is a fine GM. He seems to always be at the hotel. He is active in every aspect. The staff is excellent in every way. This is one of the best hotels in Galveston!
Galveston
This hotel is beautiful. Location is prime. The staff, all of them, were so friendly and welcoming. Just a wonderful experience from the time if booking, to checking in, to checking out. I will make this hotel my go to place every time I visit Galveston.
I love staying at this hotel when I come to Galveston. The staff is super nice and always makes sure I'm taken care of. Its clean and the beds are super comfy. If you ever need help with anything the staff gets right on it. The pool is great too.
This was a very stressful trip because we were in Galveston for our brother who was having a major surgery for cancer. The hotel staff, day & night, were very kind and accommodating. We are very grateful for that.
The ocean was just a short walk across the street from the resort. It was a nice quiet stretch of beach. The hotel room had two separate bedrooms, full kitchen, sitting area, two bathrooms, and a balcony.
The staff were exceptional at this hotel. The beds were comfortable and the rooms a good sized. LOVED the location right on the beach, with stunning views and a great pool.
very nice staff with quick easy check in and check out, breakfast was great, room very nice clean and bed very comfortable. thank you for being pet friendly
Beautiful historic hotel in downtown Galveston. Close to shopping, away from beach, lots to see and do.
Best 2-Star Hotel I've ever been to. Clean, up to date equipped and right next to the beach.
Very good clean comfortable hotel. I stay there often. East part of Galveston.
Comfort, cleanliness and proximity to beaches and restaurants.
Better this go around hands down
