Spotless. The gentleman at the front desk was so lovely, accommodating, kind. He is the reason I will return. We only stayed for 5 hours, as I was moving my daughter home from college for the summer, and we worked long hours—but I will be back for a longer stay.

While I spent a majority of my time in Northhampton for a friend's wedding, I did manage to get lunch at the Smithsonian Cafe & Chowder House. I had the lobster stew and a cup of coffee out on the porch in the gray New England weather with the changing fall folliage backdrop was a great experience. A bit pricey, but worth the trip.

This facility is managed by an older couple who are keeping their rates low for those of us with modest means, almost all of us. They don't spend their money unnecessarily, dated furnishings, old paint, etc. It looks a little shabby, but who cares. My home is a little shabby too, because I can't spend my money unnecessarily. They were super helpful, check in was a breeze, access to the colleges is great, Wifi was automatic, TV, microwave, refrigerator. I don't need flowers, or chocolate on my pillow, or scented hand soap. Low price and good access are worth a great deal more.

Although I did not stay in Hatfield for very long, I will say it seems to be a charming little town set in the foothills of the Berkshires. The trip down route 5 was delightful and the people I encountered were all very helpful and pleasant. I wish I had had time to eat at the Chowder House, because that looked very inviting and I have heard it got great reviews!

The location on the rushing river was amazing. You could hear the water. Views from my hotel room were great. I loved it. The hosts were flexible, thoughtful and attentive to detail. We arrived late, and they left keys. And in the morning they allowed for us to have breakfast early. This included all sorts of freshly baked goodies But apart from this warm welcome snd stunning location, what I remember most is just how nice the staff were. My daughter felt very comfortable too.

This excellent budget hotel exceeded our expectations. It has new owners and management and is way better than some of the negative reviews. The staff were very helpful and friendly - Chris at the front desk made us feel very welcome. The location is very convenient to Northampton and area attractions.

Charming hotel, beautifully renovated, in a cute rustic area a quick drive Northampton. On site cafe serves delicious homemade quiche and other baked goods and sandwiches for breakfast. Love the sound of the waterfall.
