went there at christmas ... totally absent of christmas spirit ... not even a tree in the restaurants. Visited Stowe and it had a wonderful christmas atmosphere. Half skiing was not available but they charged full price lift ticket
Jay Peak is some of the best skiing in New England. We skied Presidents Day and except for the one run we took on the tram, there were no lift lines at all. The hotel we stayed at, Jay Village Inn, had a well-stocked general store/gas station across the street.
We were there in summer for an art seminar so we didn't spend any time at the ski area. We stayed at Jay village and there was nothing there but the country store. We ate at The Junction restaurant in Troy. It was very good. We did not eat at Jay village because we felt the prices were too high. Also there was a very unpleasant odor coming from that area.
Pros: Resort facilities were clean and up to date. They were convenient to the mountain. Cons: Some of the staff was not very accommodating. The mountain was poorly run, largest crowd I have seen for lifts but trails were empty. Restaurants were not open during posted hours.
It was very hot,the pool was open and very pleasant. They offer the pool to the locals, I thought that was awesome. The food was good and handy having the restaurant downstairs. I liked getting it to go. They even brought it to the room. Very sweet people work there. The location was right across the street from a really nice country store. I would recommend a trip to Jay Village Inn.
The skiing was incredible, no lift lines. The lift operators were aware of our young children and slowed down lift while loading. Kids loved the water park. It was nice having kitchen in room to reduce food costs. Restaurant in hotel was average. Faucet at bathroom sink and tub were loose. Border crossings from Quebec to Vermont were really fast- less than 5 minutes both ways.
