Kalkaska is a small quiet place.
Kalkaska is a small quiet place. I enjoyed the local shops and Cherry Street market. I traveled about 15/30 minutes to nearby towns for other things to do. I will definitely go back if the occasion arises and would even live there if that was an option. Everyone I met was very friendly and welcoming!

We didn't spend much time in Kalkaska.
We didn't spend much time in Kalkaska. We came to see 7 Bridges trail and Ruggs Pond. We ate at Moose and Stella's Cafe where the hamburger was truly excellent and the salad was good, and generous. We also had a pizza at G's Pizzeria and Deli. Their deluxe pizza was very good.

It's a nice town. Has anything you would need.
It's a nice town. Has anything you would need. Cherry street market is real nice and you are only 25 miles from Traverse City, which means costs are cheaper than Travers. Also, casino is about 18 miles.

Every member of the staff that we interacted with was...
Every member of the staff that we interacted with was extremely pleasant and helpful. I was delighted to see a smoking area outside with chairs and a roof! Usually don't get either one. The beds were obviously new and really comfy. The TV was good and they did have a channel listing card. The hot tub was large and really hot! The only downfall for the entire property was the continental breakfast was delivered to our room in a bag due to Covid. Not a fan of cellophane wrapped muffins or day old bananas.

Booking.com listed a breakfast available for 10 cents. The lady checking us in seemed really surprised by that. They offered coffee and had a basket of snacks that you could choose something from. The hotel is very dated, however the lady checking us in was super friendly, the rooms were clean, the bathroom was big, and we were within walking distance to the historical downtown. For the price, it was what I expected.

At the time the clerk Mindy was helpful with giving me the steps to get a refund. The room was disgusting from the people before and the smell of the water damage was unbearable. It was like they were trying to drown a whale for the nuclear launch codes in there and failed the mission. Had to book somewhere else in Traverse City because the smell of mildew was too much.

I’m handicapped they do not have an elevator, but fortunately they found the first floor room to accommodate me I give kudos for that. When I was sleeping, you could hear the people above me stomping around on the floor as though we were in a cheap apartment. I was awaken several times by guest on the second floor stomping around.

The hotel was very clean and attractive. The decor suited the area. It was very clean. Comfortable. Staff really nice and helpful. Breakfast was just as advertised online. Delicious. I would definitely stay here again
