    Small and quaint city... had a run in with one of the managers at Walmart.... I purchased a bed sit up pillow...got outside to car and realized it had a tear in it... I walked back into store to ask to exchange it and they would not... I told them I just walked out 3 min ago.... they told me no because their customer service was not open... it was an even exchange but I was denied... NOT THE FRIENDLIEST PEOPLE!!!

    The beds were decent .the door not locking and AC barely working wasn't fun the housekeepers speeding through the parking lot right past a pool and play ground was not cool or rolling her eyes when I asked for towels and never bringing any also was not ok like there was 5 cars in that whole parking lot min included and 4 housekeepers so I know they weren't busy they were standing around smoking way more than they cleaned anything .

    A small town with two large schools - the VMI is a ghastly...

    A small town with two large schools - the VMI is a ghastly heap of disturbing architecture. Washington and Lee is colonial and benefits from lovely hills and vegetation. Many interesting shops and restaurants, and surrounding areas are lovely - Natural Bridge is one nearby place worth visiting. You can see the whole town in a day or two.

    Washington and Lee was nice. VMI was a great experience. Could have spent more time there. The cadets had just arrived so a tour was not available. Carriage ride was a good way to see the city. Our driver was very good. Ate at Pure eats. It was good. Walked in the downtown shops some. I’m not a shopper but it was good.

    We we fortunate that there was a Hot Air Balloon event in the area when we stayed there and were able to see some of them while we ate breakfast. We were only off the expressway for the night and right back on in the morning so can't comment on other aspects of Lexington.

    We went to the Lexington Hot Air balloon festival, this was awesome. We took our grandson to the Dinosaur Kingdom and he had a great time. Natural Bridge state park is close by, we did not go there this trip but many times in the past. We ate at Ruby Tuesday and had the sweetest most attentive waitresses I have ever met.

    We did not choose to eat the breakfast as we had plans to meet someone away from the hotel. From the time we pulled onto the parking lot we were impressed and it carried over thru every stage of our visit. VERY NICE !!!!!!!!!
