We loved the friendliness of the townspeople.
We loved the friendliness of the townspeople. Walking, shopping, and just browsing downtown was a pleasure only made better by having quaint little restaurants and cafes for resting your weary bones and getting something delicious to eat at the same time; real home cooking. When you needed just a quick respite there were ice cream shops, candy stores, and coffee shops. If you just simply needed to rest a bit, there are benches alternately placed along the sidewalks. There were plenty of convenient municipal parking places on the weekend around town where you could leave your car all day. We loved being in the foothills, not on top of a mountain, but close enough to enjoy the mountains.

we enjoyed the sites and our grand had a blast with the ride in the cop car and the museme looking forward to going back the chefes was a great place to eat and maybery drive in was great the loaded goat was great just a little high barnny cafe was great

We very much enjoyed the Mayberry Museum and the Museum of...
We very much enjoyed the Mayberry Museum and the Museum of the Siamese Twins! The director at the Siamese Twins Museum went above and beyond with extra information and with extra things for us to see! We viewed the sights connected with the Andy Griffith TV Show and did a little shopping. I also ate a sonker (similar to a cobbler) which is unique to the area. Don't expect too much from the sightseeing trip unless you add going to Pilot Mountain, hiking, etc.

Mt Airy is a small town that is growing and changing for the better. Shopping downtown is always fun. They are proud that Andy Griffith lived in the area and his show was their town. His museum is nice, and the museum downtown is nice. It talks about the history of the town it is well done and fun to learn about the town. Getting around the town is easy. There are lots of places to eat downtown and away from town. They have many events in the year that are always fun to attend. The 4th of July parade is patriotic and fun to see the street lined on both sides with people that have brought their own chairs to sit and watch the parade. The fireworks are also fun.

Did the squad car tour...very good driver and information.
Did the squad car tour...very good driver and information. Also did local restaurants and walked the historic main street. We enjoyed the scenery and attractions as we grew up watching the Andy Griffith show. Fun to see the replicas of the show.

I slept amazing both nights! Quiet hotel, didn't even hear other people pull in after we had settled in for the night. Staff was super friendly. We generally stay at a different hotel when we come to my daughter's, but we'll be switching to the Bryson.

The room was exactly as others have described - simple and very clean. Easy access from I-77 is a big plus. Only about 10 minutes away from several Mount Airy restaurants. Reasonably priced.
