Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa/Short Pump Town Center, Residence Inn by Marriott Richmond at the Notch, and Quirk Hotel got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Richmond.
The room had wet towels on the floor. The bath tub had hair in it. Also there was leftover taco bell in the fridge. The people working was very nice and accommodating. But I know they were short staff because of the pandemic but the cleaning needs to improve.
many areas of Richmond are nice lot's of thing's to see and do. However I use to live there many year's ago ot does have it's unsafe area's do research before traveling there or any other city be aware and observant there or anywhere you travel.
I would not consider Richmond to be a vacation destination unless you are a Civil War history buff or perhaps doing research at the marvelous “Library of Virginia.” Really, there does not seem to be a lot there of great interest for a vacation overall. Maybe a brew-cation would be good as they do have numerous small craft breweries. There are a proliferation of Vietnamese and Hispanic restaurants, which is excellent if you enjoy those foods (I do). We spent our time there in Northern Richmond, so maybe all these types of restaurants are in that area. There are some old “southern” streets that really show what old Richmond was probably like in the 1800s. Some of the old houses were very cool on Monument Avenue. The entire city seems like a formerly nice place that has totally gone down hill. Some areas looked bombed out. There is not a lot of trash in the streets (as in Philadelphia) but many buildings seemed boarded up, falling apart or abandoned. Oddly there were many many homeless people for some reason. It seemed like there were far too many homeless for the size of the city. I found driving to be a bit chaotic with odd street signs I had never seen before, which are confusing to tourists. Many of the downtown roads have far too skinny of lanes and we about got sideswiped more than once. It was actually a very confusing place to drive, but maybe most cities are. Too many one way roads and “no left turn” signs, just when you needed to make a left turn! There was a lot of shopping there and many unique stores. Several areas looked like they were trying to revitalize. I could not find a really good pizza place but I suppose the south is not known for pizza. I am from the Northeast. We also could not find a great and unique hamburger place in the area we were staying, which was on Route 250 in the Glenside area. All in all I have no desire to go back there but it was an experience to add to my list anyway.
This is the first time I have visited Richmond. My family enjoyed the whole weekend. The foods are great, especially the fish. There is so much to do and places to visit. We will stay longer the next time.
I enjoyed walking around Richmond and taking pictures of the murals. The Holocaust Museum is one of the best museums I've been to, I highly recommend it. I would suggest checking out a canal walk over the James River. I didn't expect downtown Richmond to have so many hills, so if you're going in the summer make sure you have plenty of water, cooling blankets, and fans for little ones especially. One thing I really wish I could have seen was the Edgar Allen Poe museum but it was closed due to Covid.
Richmond is my family home so I always enjoy visiting there. There are several great museums and opportunities for cultural enrichment. Unfortunately, we were visiting during the pandemic so most of the museums and art galleries and restaurants were closed.
had what I needed. nothing fancy, but comfortable, very affordable, very clean. had refrigerator, microwave, excellent channels tv, plenty of pillows, very firm bed which is great because of very bad back. people very pleasant, would definite stay here again. thank you for great experience.
