It's such a beautiful city, with a lot of shopping, tourism, and entertainment present. I'd recommend it to anyone as a good vacation spot. My advice though: stay warm, the coastal winds make it somewhat chilly.
Short car ride from LA to a coastal sanctuary that has a laid back vibe, wine bars, breweries and don’t miss the Uber ride out to Hendry’s Beach for lunch at the Boat House! Rent road bikes from Cal Adventures, a fleet of Trek!
Blues skies, beautiful neighborhoods, ocean views, hills to climb, bikes to ride, the Santa Barbara bowl, people who take pride in their businesses, great food, winery and craft beer spots - limited accommodations so overpriced in general but the market sets the rate. Even so It’s a trip worth taking.
Lived in Santa Barbara/Goleta area for many years in the 70’s and 80’s...always a wonderful place to visit. Great scenery, food, shopping and ambiance...really enjoy walking the boardwalk on Sundays and viewing the local art and crafts...
The city of Santa Barbara provides many public parking lots throughout downtown and even on the Wharf. You cab park the first 75 minutes free which is about enough time to eat in the restaurant if they serve quickly, or enough time to do some quick shopping. If you stay more than 75 minutes (used to be 90 minutes), then you pay as you leave the lot. The attendants are very courteous and helpful. The city of Santa Barbara is know for its very nice harmonious architecture throughout. There are enough galleries, musesum, shops, restaurants to make your stay very interesting. There is also a zoo. There. Is a Municipal Golf course open to the public
“It was the second lowest rate next to Motel 6. The room has a mini-fridge, decent-sized microwave and other amenities we didn't expect. There is a large shower with a rainfall shower head. Breakfast was pretty good with lots of variety. Many tables to sit inside and outside. Hotel servers were on hand to restock as needed. There is a pool. We didn't get a chance to use it but it did look somewhat small. Location is good - close to UCSB and downtown Santa Barbara.”
“Adorable decor and charming historical house. Friendly owners. Great location, walking distance to downtown Santa Barbara (State St area)”
“Staff were extremely helpful and polite. The location is okay, about a 20 minute walk from downtown area of shops and restaurants and 35 min walk from the beach. Rooms were a good size and well equipped. Thought it was a bit expensive for a motel, however for Santa Barbara in summer time I think it was reasonable. We would definitely return.”
“An upscale place to stay. Accommodations are excellent. Location is in the Funk Zone, close to beach and downtown with free parking. The swimming pool area is vibrant and fun. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is substantial; dining area is very attractive. Train station is across the street. 50 cent Shuttles to beach and downtown are just below hostel on State Street.”
“The pool, the ease of access to many of the attractions that Santa Barbara has to offer. The hotel's staff - specifically the Valet team is by far the best thing they have going for the hotel in terms of staffing.”
