Manase
Located on Savai'i Island, Stevensons at Manase offers a secluded beach and reef for snorkeling, swimming and kayaking.
The staff were friendly, kind, and welcoming. The service they provided was exceptional. I had good conversations with the staff. Appreciated them. The distance from the sea to my room was great. Had fast access to the sea for a swim/snorkle. Having an outdoor shower was awesome to wash off the sand from the beach etc. Food that I tried on the menu was delicious. The view from the front of my room onto the beach/sea was beautiful. So close to the sea. Best of the hotels I visited on Savai'i. My room was high above the water, so I had a beautiful view of the sea, the sunrise, and sunset. Beautiful location.

Beautiful crystal clear waters for snorkelling, we swam with turtles on our second day! Beautiful calm waters for kids/kayaking too. We had our 2 year old and she was in the water on our doorstep everyday. Waking up on the beachfront whether in a bungalow or a villa is magical! The community is a lovely small one. Manase felt quite secluded from the rest of the island, which we loved as you still have everything you need at the resorts/local shops which are close by like cash exchange or ATM or food stores. The villages are close together and we found all locals to be pleasant and accommodating.
Manase as a destination on Savaii provides access to snorkeling with turtles off the beach in front of the fales, there is the opportunity to scuba dive if you are Padi qualified or want to become qualified A 6 k bush walk begins in Manase and climbs up into the hills There is a local shop for basic needs and a petrol station to top up your rentals which can also be hired at Manase to provide access to other beaches with coral and tropical fish varieties and the lava fields. There is a variety of accomodation on offer. Church singing wafts across the village on Sundays
We hired a car for the whole week but could have done without it and just done day trips with a car rented from the resort. The resort will organise a transfer from the ferry for you. Driving in Savaii is easy there is little traffic. We mostly ate at the resort but also tried the Barefoot Bar which was beautifully located as well and good food. The grandchildren loved the pool and swimming in the sea and didn't need much entertaining. We did a snorkelling trip with Dive Savaii and also the canopy tree walk - which was exciting - but you need a good head for heights.
I thought Stevenson @ Manase was the only Hotel at Manase, but it was not. There were other Hotels, but Stevenson is the best after hearing other visitors tell us about their experience at other Hotels. I am glad I picked the best. Only ate breakfast at the Hotel. Had something to east at Reception when we went to the wedding at Manase. Yes it was easy to get around Manase. My grandson and my daughter enjoyed the pool with their cousins.
Everything was perfect for our stay. We stayed in the Villa which was stunning and had the beach literally down the stairs in front of the door. The staff were so friendly and helpful, especially with my parents who both have a disability - especially Aulalo. The food at the restaurant was delicious and well prepared. There is security there so you feel safe and know your car etc is secure also.
The beach was great for snorkelling, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. If you are staying in the beach fales, take lots of mosquito spray. The hotel provides mosquito coils and mosquito nets over the beds which is great but you’ll need spray too.The fales are not air conditioned so you are open to the elements. If I stayed here again I would pay to stay in one of the air conditioned villas.
