Located in Underberg in the KwaZulu-Natal region, Valley Lakes CHALETS has accommodations with free private parking. I really liked the cottage. It was beautiful and the scenery was perfect. Farouk is such a wonderful person, one of the nicest people you can come across. He was so helpful and always available. The rooms were so neat and comfortable. It was really cold at night and despite there being a fireplace there was also a gas heater which worked like magic.

Featuring mountain views, Stoney Way Eco Pod has accommodations with a patio and a coffee machine, around 4.3 miles from Himeville Museum. Cosy little cottage, small and compact but has everything you need
Underberg is a quaint town and honestly such a treat to visit. The main road is small and has everything you need to get buy. It is very easy to get around - just watch the high speed bumps and pot holes. We visited the Himeville Museum which was such a treat and also hit up a few stores on the main road. We checked out two local restaurants - The Grind Cafe and Lemon Tree Bistro which were both so lovely - with managers so friendly and food was delicious.
Out in the country, beautiful scenery. fresh air lots of activities golf, fishing, hiking, swimming to name a few. Should you forget supplies you are spoilt with a well stocked Spar and a wonderful butchery that makes the best wors and the steak is so tender...you can totally relax and not have to worry about anything not even your safety.
A small clean cottage, easy to access. The area very peaceful and tranquil, For the colder nights would like to have found extra blankets in the cupboard. Don't forget to get firewood on your way for the cold nights. Enjoyed the weekend
We have been visiting the area for years. It really is beautiful. The village itself could do with a bit of an upgrade and the roads aren't the greatest. The people who live and work in the area are lovely though. It is nice to see there is a bit of development going on and we know there are residents who are working at improving the roads and sidewalks. We have stayed in and around Underberg and Himeville many times and will continue to do so. It really is a beautiful part of KZN
Beautiful place , right location. Pinky was very helpful. The room was always clean. Please provide wardrobes as that place is near the wedding venue so we didn't have a place to hang our suits.
The area around the town of Underberg is extremely scenic with lots of fun and outdoorsy activities to do. I would definitely recommend spending some time in the area, since the hikes take some time but are certainly worth it, although I would say that you should be moderately fit to enjoy it to the fullest. The hikes that we did started at the Drakensberg Ukhahlamba Park World Heritage Site where you have to pay R50 per person for a permit. it was totally worth it, since the views were spectacular and the cave with the faded Bushman paintings that we saw was well worth the somewhat challenging trail (for some rather unfit people). The lady at the Silverstreams trading store was super nice and friendly and advised us on some things that we should do and see. one of her suggestions was the Himeville museum, which was an incredible and extremely interesting experience that I would greatly recommend. It covered everything from the history of the area, to the animals and birds that inhabit the area along with displays of their droppings and other interesting tidbits. Very educational. Outside the museum we followed our noses to the coffee shop across the street, The Stonehouse Kitchen which had the best hot chocolate and their food also looked excellent, although we did not eat there. The area is easy to navigate, although the roads in some parts are terribly deteriorated and have lots of potholes, so you will have to drive very carefully. I would just avoid going Underberg (the town) during month-end, since it was completely chaotic, although it might just look like that all that time, I'm not sure.
Underberg
The cottage and service was more then what we expected! The cottage had everything you needed and was in pristine condition. The staff were also very helpful and friendly. In the evenings they would pack and light the fireplace making the cottage even more cozy. It is ideally situated for a morning run/walk, horse riding, paddling, etc and to the restaurants scattered along the Underberg surroundings. The value for money makes this a 10/10 stay.

Not far from Underberg to get supplies. We will most definitely be back.

The location is perfect if you want to tour Sani Pass which is +/-20 minutes away. The property has a huge garden for guests to stroll and soak up the sun. We stayed in winter when nights reached below zero temperatures, but felt so comfortable due to the electric bed warmers.
