“It's quite rare for me to experience this level of hospitality from a guesthouse. I had just arrived after a three-day jungle trek and I was feeling a little sick. The next morning I was suffering from severe food poisoning. It was horrible. Sang and Andy, the owners, made it a priority to take me to the hospital. Not only was I taken to the hospital, but Sang stayed with me for the entire duration! Aside from that, the room, the location, and the service was all top-notch. I truly hope to stay there again next year!”

“The staff was so friendly and helpful! They even prepared our breakfast so we were able to take it to-go in the early morning, ready for when our tour picked us up. We loved the location as well. It is close to a lovely fruit market and plenty of street vendors (which are better than real restaurants, money and quality-wise). The room was basic but we didn't require anything extravagant (the fridge came in handy). The night bazaar/market is a 15min walk away, the airport a 5-10min taxi ride, and the bus station was a 10min tuktuk ride (very fun!). We were so pleasantly surprised, I wouldn't hesitate to come back here again on my next trip to Thailand, and would recommend this hotel to anyone. We loved Chiang Mai so much (another pleasant surprise) and the hotel was the cherry on top.”

“This is a little boutique guesthouse near China town. We stayed on the top floor, and though it is a bit of a hike, the room is beautiful! It is spacious and clean. However, a sweet front desk girl sorted the internet out for the next day which was perfect. The room was well lit and has a flat screen tv. “There may not be many reviews yet but all the reviews were raving about this place so I had to check it out. Turned out to be my favourite hostel I've stayed at in my two months of travelling Thailand. Everything about this hostel is great. Right from the moment you arrive you are attended to. I arrived 7am after a night bus up from Bangkok and before I was even checked in they had made me breakfast (and the sign says breakfast doesn't start until 730). There's an assortment of fresh fruit to be eaten in the lobby at all times (bananas, oranges, apples, strawberries, papaya were all put out during my 2 night stay) as well as complimentary water refills, unlimited coffee/tea, cookies and crackers to pick from. There is also a kitchen area where you are able to cook your own meals (and clean up after yourself, they already do an amazing job of keeping the place spotless so do your part when you can). The dorm rooms are very spacious with nice big private lockers and beds are big enough to fit a tall person like myself (6'4") comfortably. The showers and washrooms are definitely well maintained. Free bike rentals are very convenient considering the area, makes for exploring around old town very easy and able to do all within one day. The rest of the days can be spent scootering out further for exploring (I would recommend checking out the Grand Canyon). Also the main night bazaar or bazaars since there seemed to be about 4 surrounding each other are a 2 minute walk away and you can spend hours at night there. If I wasn't at the end of my trip and in a time crunch I could have easily sent another two nights at this hostel. Can't say enough good things about it.”

“The place is really cosy. Excelent toilets (lots of them), great showers with hot water (the one of the single toilet was only cold). “My stay in Chiang Mai was perfect! Finding the Ghee house was a breeze. It is so close to everything! The shared bathroom was absolutely never an issue as the way of excellent design and planning. The two women that generally run everything are the sweetest most gracious women you could ever met. Such a warm welcoming place. They booked tours right at the deck. Laundry was very fast and cheap. Fresh towels and water everyday. Coffee and fruit always available. I felt like family. I can't say enough good things about The Ghee House. I will certainly come back!!!! :-)”

The terrace on top of the hotel (not the white platform over the pool) is lovely, as is the breakfast area. The hotel is small; you can see all the rooms from the pool. The location couldn’t be better. The street is a quiet soi with few cars, but it is filled with great restaurants, a good cooking school, laundry services, and nearby ATMs. The Sunday night market is at the end of the block. You are in the middle of the old city, within walking distance of Wat Chedi Luang and other major temples. The managers were really nice and helped to arrange tours, cars, etc…at good prices. Breakfast was not included, but they had a variety of good inexpensive breakfast options.”
