The level of automation (staff avoidance) was impressive. The hotel has no front desk and no staff readily available to help guests. I spoke with one lovely young woman who actually spoke to and assisted guests who had figured out how to get into the facility, and saw a handful of other service staff during my 3 day stay. In another hotel I likely would have interacted with more people. But Stay Koook seems to emphasize an automated rather than a personalized experience. The hotel is very close to the Bern Wankdorf station; that was a treat. The Bern Wakndorf station is about a 5 minute train ride from Bern Hauptbahnhof. The "Bern Ticket" available to guests is great and makes getting around town for sightseeing easy and cheap. The common area was welcoming, though guests from some countries did not put effort into keeping the common area clean for other guests. The rooms are very cleverly and thoughtfully designed, with the exception of the glass door to the bathroom. Every inch of space is used with purpose.

Located in the center of Bern, Hotel Bären am Bundesplatz is only a 2-minute walk from the Federal Palace and a 5-minute walk from the main train station.
