But it turned out great. Loved the hostel ambiance, bed, bathrooms were clean, people were respectful to each other, the receptionists were helpful. If you're traveling to Reykjavik via bus or cab, use the landmark as Bus Stop #9 or #13, as the hostel is very close to it. Use the same bus stop for your tours. The famous church is just 5 min walk from the hostel. There's a fast food restaurant right next to the hostel which was great to grab a quick bite to eat.

We were in a room with 2 single beds connected - very comfortable, there is like a beehive-shaped closet to put things in, a trash can (which the workers emptied every day), a large window with a view of the city (sealed black curtains), sockets for charging and heating. There are several toilets and a shower on the floor and they are cleaned several times a day. There is a shared kitchen with several dining tables, refrigerators, dishes and more. very clean. The staff was really nice, and helped in everything they could (booking attractions, consultations and more). It is about a 20 minute walk from the city center. It was totally worth the money!!!
