Eating in If you’d prefer to stay home, Braithwaite has a compact, fully equipped kitchen (no dishwasher) with an induction cooktop and Bertazzoni combination oven. Our pantry is stocked with black and herbal tea, ground coffee, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper. Coffee-making facilities include a plunger and stovetop espresso maker. Collect local delicacies on your travels, or Hill St Grocer (an excellent gourmet supermarket, butcher and greengrocer) is just up the road.

Sandy Bay is one of Hobart's oldest residential suburbs and its quiet streets are lined with workers' cottages and larger merchants' homes. Braithwaite was originally a bakery, serving the locals freshly baked bread each morning. It's an easy walk into town, or down to the river. There's plenty of free street parking right outside the door if you have a car.
