The Casa Parrucchiere and the Appartamento Cortiletto are two apartments that are part of a historic house from the XVII century. The Swiss painter Fritz Meijer lived and worked in the house for many years. Both self-catering apartments are completely renovated and well equipped with everything one would like to find in a "home away from home". The property is situated in the centre of the very quiet and car-free Gandria, one of Ticino's most beautiful lakeside villages close to the Swiss-Italian border, right across the San Vigilio village church. The closest swimming spot is only 80 m down the stairs. Gandria is comfortably accessible by public transportation (bus and boat) from Lugano or by car (5 km). Public parking is available at 200 m (unloading luggage is possible 50 m from the house).
We are an American-Swiss-German family. Some years back we fell in love with the historic village of Gandria and bought the main house (where the "Appartamento Cortiletto" is located) together with the attached “Casa Parrucchiere” which we completely renovated. We have travelled extensively, and that is why it was important to us to create a "home away from home" for our guests.
Gandria it is a charming, old fishing village on the shores of Lake Lugano with just over 200 inhabitants. As there are only very narrow alleys and lots of stairs throughout the village there are no cars in the village which makes it a very quiet place. Being located in the middle of the village, guests get to participate in the every-day village life. Summers are lazy with lots of swimming in the lake which is just a couple of steps down from the house.
