Laoija is a very authentic house in a beautiful scenery, unspoiled by the mass tourism so far. Haibo is extremely nice and helpful, the food is basic but very tasteful. We did a lot of hiking, one day with Haibo's mother. Very inspiring.

This LaoJia 老家 is a revived Qing Dynasty house in a small fishing- farming village. It sits beside the Li River, amongst the mystical karst mountains. Come here to feel at home in authentic rural China. Other Laojia 老家 locations on Laojia. co
Our love for the Chinese countryside has lead to the creation of our Laojia 老家 locations, which we now enjoy sharing with adventurous travelers. We are interested in showing outsiders a different side of China. We have seen that connecting travelers with these authentic villages leads to wonderful and meaningful outcomes; not only travelers but locals as well. Friends of Laojia: Haibo, Alice, Eric, Hua, Yongfa, Maarten and many more villagers :) Feel free to get in touch!
Local Life. One of the greatest opportunities you will have during your stay is being able to interact with the locals. Many visitors to China never get to experience the friendly charm of the people in the countryside. Engaging in this opportunity is ultimately up to you. If you would like to interact, you can let the locals know by: leaving the front door open (a beautiful gesture to let them know they are welcome to come and 'chat', even if you don't speak Chinese, body language goes a long way); going on hikes with villagers; walking around the village or through the farmland and saying hello (which usually leads to more); inviting neighbors for tea session (this is very common and not seen as an inconvenience, rather a warm opportunity for greeting and understanding). These are highly suggested and mind opening activities. Epic Scenery. Our village sits on the bank of the most immaculate stretch of the Li River. Being immersed in the beauty of the natural environment (far beyond the tourism) and the experience of having a local as your guide walking their old stone paths makes for something quite unforgettable.
