Quaint and comfortable at the same time: The cozy wooden holiday homes are excellently equipped and therefore the perfect holiday home for connoisseurs. A private sauna and fireplace as well as a cozy wooden terrace with a fantastic view of the Harz nature in every house promise relaxation and peaceful time. So that you can also be active, various hiking trails start right outside the door, and mountain bikers also get their money's worth. Opposite the complex is the National Park Visitor Center where you can get plenty of information about the National Park and also book guided excursions through the beautiful area. At over 800 m above sea level, the Altenau district of Torfhaus is one of the highest places in the Harz and enchants its visitors with a magnificent view of the Brocken, the highest mountain in the Harz at 1,142 m. The settlement was once founded by peat cutters who worked in the nearby raised bogs. Today it is an ideal entry point into the network of hiking trails and the Harzer Hexenstieg, which crosses the Harz Mountains from west to east over 97 km.
