Looking for a rural retreat? A get-away in the beautiful, French countryside. Welcome to La Grue Gites with CoVID 19 cleaning policy! We have a complex of three gites - each individual in style whilst maintaining the beautiful Charentais exposed stone walls and impressive oak beams. All our cottages have their own private courtyard garden with stone barbecues and seating area for you to relax and enjoy the evening sun. There is a shared, open courtyard for all guests to enjoy with a games barn providing babyfoot and table tennis, a small library and a laundry area. Our traditional nineteenth century bread oven is great for pizza nights. We are family-friendly and provide equipment such as high chairs, travel cots, toys, changing mats, sterilizers and buggies etc so you can pack less - we understand the needs of young families as we have children ourselves. We live just across the road - close enough should you need anything but far enough away to ensure you have your privacy. We're always happy to help and we've 'road-tested' local family attractions and can offer advice for suitable day trips. Our aim is for you to enjoy the best possible holiday you can here at La Grue
Welcome to La Grue and thank you for choosing to spend your holiday here. Our family love welcoming guests and we do our very best to ensure you have a great holiday. We're on-hand if you need us and we have great local knowledge and recommendations for local produce, days out and fabulous places to eat. Martin is a keen cyclist and knows the local Boucle routes well - he'll happily join you for a ride to show you the sights. We are constantly building strong links with our local community and we have tried and tested recommendations for family-friendly visits.
Being situated amongst the rolling countryside, vines and sunflowers, the lanes are ideal for walking and cycling. There is a Botanic forest walk with a viewing point in Mons. The market town of Aigre is within walking and cycling distance and only a five minute drive away. Aigre has all the amenities you might need with cafes, bars, restaurants, gift shops, bakeries, butcher, pharmacy, florist, supermarket, Doctors, Tabac and Presse. There is a Plan d'Eau 15 minutes away with a restaurant and small play area or there's Angouleme, birthplace of Asterix, with its many shops, huge Plan d'Eau with watersport activities, Ludopark inflatables, land-train, museums and Nautilis waterpark. You can even take the TGV for a day-trip to Bordeaux! There are plenty of family attractions within an hour of La Grue whether you like dinosaurs and prehistory, to solving the puzzle in Chateau grounds, sailing your own miniature boat or a day at the zoo or Monkey Valley - there's something for everyone.
