A village within the city, in the image of the suburb it once formed, this Mecca for antique dealers and merchants encapsulates the history of Bordeaux. Today, the merchants are still in Chartrons (after a short break in the 20th century). They have been joined in the alleyways by the antique dealers. Rue Notre Dame, with its 700-meter-long carriageway, is home to around forty of them.
