If it weren’t for Joan of Arc, Orléans may not have become the beautiful city it is today. The teenage heroine of France liberated the city during the Hundred Years War, a fact commemorated with a May festival and a statue of her on horseback in a large square (well, hexagon).
From Joan’s former house nearby, a road leads to Sainte-Croix Cathedral. Arriving from this direction, the cathedral appears somewhat overshadowed by terraced buildings, until you step out into its square and realise what an incredible structure it is.
To the north is the fine art museum and in the opposite direction are the shops, restaurants and bars of Rue de Bourgogne. Place du Châtelet houses more shops, overlooked by narrow half-timbered buildings. Just south, historic Georges V Bridge crosses the fast-flowing Loire River, connecting the historic centre with modern suburbs.
South of the river are the Parc des Expos and Zenith d’Orléans event centres, while further away is the Parc Floral de la Source – gardens centred on the source of the Loiret River. Even further south is the tranquil Sologne forest, while to the west the Loire passes many wonderful castles.
As well as Loire Valley accommodation, Booking.com offers luxury Orléans hotels, cheap B&Bs and apartments near the train station.

We were only in Orleans for one night after flying transatlantic into Paris. So we did not see much. We formed a positive impression though...the statue of Joan of Arc, the Cathedral, the shops and quaint, easily walkable historic district.

Orléans is a surprising small city, packed with history and home to Jeanne d’Arc. Beautiful city centre, very beautifully planned and executed urban redevelopment putting on focus historical features and yes the cathedral is just stunning. We stayed only a short overnight and were lucky to witness the late night light show pinned to the facade of the cathedral: just stunning. Beautiful pedestrian areas with medieval timber framed houses as well as glamorous arcades and squares. Will go back again!

From the U. S. and first time visiting France.
From the U. S. and first time visiting France. We were in Orleans for just one night. This hotel is in a great location to walk to the sights and pedestrian areas. The front desk staff were proactively helpful providing a map of the area and what is available.
The parking was in a courtyard and very safe. As extra bonus for this hotel, we asked for a bucket of ice and actually got a wine bucket with ice. I say this because at a hotel stay with different chain a couple nights prior we got a cereal bowl of ice.
Room was pristine and had AC. Temps have been about 80 and nights were not very cool to sleep at prior lodgings we were staying at.
Should we visit Orleans again we will stay at this hotel.
This is a wonderful old fashioned hotel, with wonderful turn of the century ambiance and furnishings. Loved it. Even without a lift (as a result of not pandering to modern destructions) it is still true. They offered to help.,
It is very handy for the train station and close to the center - and Orleans Cathedral. So excellent location.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to old-fashioned lovers of quality. Staff extremely friendly. Lovely breakfast room. What more can I say.
Having our hotel we normally visit fully booked, arrived at comfort hotel by occasion. At parking, viewing the exterior of the location, didn't have high expectations. Couldn't have been more wrong....nice interior, comfortable room and bed, quiet night , never have seen a breakfast buffet with that much variation, nice staff...perfect hotel when you're driving through France and need a night over. Will repeat, much better than the competing hotel chain we normally frequent
This hotel is well placed for an overnight stopover travelling by road towards Calais as it is close to the A71 on outskirts of Orleans. There is nearby housing but it is also next to pleasant woodland, good for a stroll or run or walking your dog. The rooms are very comfortable and the restaurant is very good. We have stayed here 3 times this year: the menu has been substantially different each time and always varied and interesting.
Nothing about the hotel we were supposed to be in. The hotel moved us to another of their hotels because of a 'water leak' at very short notice. The alternative venue was apparently more expensive, but they would cover the cost. On arrival we had to pay a deposit for any damage (unexpected cost). The room was clean and the bed comfy. The air conditioning didn't work. We didn't appreciate the noisy car and motorbike racing until 2am.
This is the second time that we stayed in this wonderful apartment on our visit to Orleans. The location is in the absolute center of town. The cathedral is a 5 min walk away. There are many restaurants and shops around. We parked our car at the garage in Les Halles Châtelet which is 250 meter away. Everything is very convenient, the apartment is clean and has a nice kitchen. The beds are comfortable and there is wifi.
The staff was professional, helpful, and kind. I traveled with my dog and my room had a lovely dog bed in it, bowls, and a bag of treats. I thought that was a lovely touch. Moreover, my window faced the river and the view was classical France. Gorgeous. The hotel is right in the heart of things and it's easy to wander the cobblestoned streets and exercise along the river.
Really good location in the centre of Orléans, near to lots of sights. The kitchen area has all the equipment needed for a short stay. The bedroom area is spacious, with a separate living area to relax. The property management company were very responsive to our questions (even in the evening) and the process to collect and return the keys is easy.
Super dog friendly - perfect location for a stopover whilst travelling through France. Everything you need - comfy beds, secure parking, nice bar and restaurant, friendly staff. Bonus if you have a dog it’s opposite the Loire with a nice grassy area for walkies. I would use to stop over again.
Old hotel near centre of Orleans.
Short walk to centre for restaurants etc
One night stopover.
Not much of a view with rooms at back. Very quiet though.
Have to mention the reception guy as he carried the cases up 2 flights, a rare service these days.
Suited our purpose.
The room was very attractive. Breakfast was very good and fresh daily. Wonderful local cheeses were served. Staff was friendly and provided suggestions for restaurants. The location was excellent for seeing all of the sights of Orleans. Room was very clean.
The restaurant offers good dishes with reasonable price.
The swimming pool is not too big but it helps a lot after a long drive.
The hotel is located in a green area where you can have a nice walk in the neighbourhood.
Our second visit to this excellently positioned hotel close to all the attractions in the old city of Orleans. Great friendly staff, good breakfast, reasonable cost. Superior rooms worth the extra
Excellent clean and comfortable rooms.
The hotel is very easy to access with a car ( no need to navigate narrow streets etc ) and provided good parking behind the hotel.
Quirky decor which we found charming even though not fans of cycling or the Tour de France. Good location in easy walking distance of the centre of town.
