Dartmouth is a major tourist attraction in Devon due to its proximity to the shore and the fact that it is located inside an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town hosts many yearly events, including the Dart Music Festival, the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, and the Dartmouth Food Festival, all of which take use of the town's beautiful waterfront and historic, winding alleys dotted with boutique shops, restaurants, and art galleries. The South West Coast Way, the Dart Valley Trail, and many peaceful rural lanes make the area around Dartmouth ideal for bicycling and walking.
