"Beside the Bay "was originally part of a small grocer's shop, and is grade C listed. The building dates from the 1830's, and we have carefully stripped it back inside to provide a compact, quirky space to enjoy . A kitchen/ living room with a cosy woodburner looks out to Kames Bay, and on a summer morning, with the window open, you'll be able to hear the waves, and the call of the seabirds. The bedroom is to the back of the apartment. An en suite completes the rooms. Please note there's no additional bed, or space for a airbed or cot.
We have been visitors to the island since our three children were tiny. Just over ten years ago, we bought our first apartment there, and now enjoy a thriving business which benefits guests and local businesses alike. We love to share our extensive knowledge of the area, walking, what to see and where to go, providing you with the best information we can to enable you to enjoy your stay.
Right across the road, the broad sweep of Kames Bay sits majestically, with the hills above as a backdrop. This apartment is on the road from ferry to town, and there will be island traffic passing your window. A ten minutes walk takes you right to to some shops, while a cafe is a little closer. The apartment is ideally placed right next to a bus stop, making it perfect for those wishing to arrive by public transport. Hire a bike to cycle round the tiny island, or walk the path to The Glaidstone at the top of the island for stupendous views. Enjoy bird watching, fishing, kayak hire ,or just relax with a book, the choice is yours.
