The hosts were lovely,friendly and clearly very passionate about their property, but also took the greatest care not to impose when checking things like the hot tub levels. The beds are so comfortable and everything was spotless. Oh, and the best equipped kitchen I have ever seen in a holiday let!!

PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO INSURANCE RESTRICTIONS WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT HOLIDAY BOOKINGS Blackthorn Meadow is home to two 2 bedroomed, Visit Wales 4 Star graded, full-size detached country bungalows which are set in just under 2 acres of grounds close to the Monmouthshire and Torfaen border. It is situated in the rural village of Coed y Paen and is only a 5-minute walk to the Carpenters Arms country pub and restaurant and is 2 minutes’ drive or 10 minutes’ downhill walk to Llandegfedd Lake’s Visitor and Water sports Centre (kayaking, paddle boarding, etc - check availability prior to booking). Blackthorn Meadow is only 12 miles to Wales National Velodrome which is in Newport International Sports Village. It is also less than 6 minutes’ drive to Greenmeadow Golf and Country Club which also has a restaurant and bar. We offer year-round availability for stays of up to 28 nights (no arrivals Christmas Day). Both bungalows have their own private lockable garden areas with a Sauna, Jacuzzi Spa hot tub, lights and outdoor bicycle storage. The children's play area has a climbing frame with a slide, rock wall and a double swing set, a spring rocker and a trampoline. Glass fronted multi-fuel stoves (see photos) run the central heating. Logs, anthracite, kindling etc provided.
We have been hosting now for over 13 years and enjoy meeting new and returning guests. We are currently in the process of ensuring that both of our lodges comply with the new amended Fire Safety requirements. Our guests' safety is paramount to us which is why we check the jacuzzi and adjust the chemicals for you on a regular basis. We also want to make our guests' stay an enjoyable one so we do all we can to help them achieve it.
Coed y paen is a beautiful village with a church and an outstanding local pub restaurant The Carpenters Arms. It offers views over beautiful rolling hills and a variety of country walks. It is a rural location however it is still within a short driving distance to towns. Blackthorn Meadow is within a10 minutes’ drive to Cwmbran Shopping;s retail and hospitality area with its free parking and vehicle e-charging points however local supermarkets including Iceland, Sainsburys, Asda, Morrisons etc. and some food delivery services like Dominos, Just Eat etc. also cover our area (please check prior to booking).
