Although we travelled by car, The New Inn is accessible by public transport as there are bus stops nearby. Its on the Newport to Chepstow route. There is no lift to the first floor but the stairs are not too steep if you have luggage. Breakfast was included. We opted for pastries & toast so can't comment on the cooked breakfast.
Staff were very helpful and friendly when I needed a reduce my number of nights at the hotel and a refund was given without any problems. On arriving as a family of four, we were upgraded which was a lovely surprise! Our room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. Great choices available at breakfast and all of very good quality. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We didn’t have time to make use of the pool and gym facilities but they looked very inviting.
Ideal stop over for our visit to the Principality Stadium for the Wales v New Zealand match. Sadly, no time to visit Newport attractions but would consider an extra night stay to enjoy more experiences of the locality.
Enjoyed our overnight stay dispite the upgrade we payed extra for was very disappointing due to cleanliness issues and black mould in the shower , the reception had to move us to another room , we were given a larger room made up for 6! We were only 2 but the room was definitely better and the balcony and view an improvement, we only booked for one night for my husbands birthday so was a bit annoying having to spend time moving , not sure if we would book again but the restaurant staff and food in the olive tree was lovely
We stayed here 9 years ago and nothing much has changed, I really expected it to be refurbished but, it is still lovely although a bit dated. I would have given it a better review but due to an unfortunate incident with a fellow guest, being woken up at 2 am is never a good thing. Although the hotel did compensate us but, had to be reminded when the Final Bill arrived.
The stay was for golf, played the Montgomery course awful course will never play it again. Hotel room was dated due a refurb I would suggest, everything was extremely expensive and £20 for the privilege of parking came as a bitter pill to swallow as no choice as you are a captive audience so have no choice. We will return again but with lower expectations or pip for a group at one of the Lodges.
The Waterloo Hotel is a beautiful building, rooms are really clean and we had a very comfy bed. We had a room at the front of the building with a huge bathroom. This is a family run hotel and the owners and team are so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble for them. We booked full English breakfast which was excellent. We will definitely back, it would be good to try out the restaurant when they open up. A good location for Newport (20.min stroll) and Cardiff. Would highly recommend.
Newport
The law in Wales enforced masks at the time in hotels unless when sitting down. Groups of guys were wandering around everywhere including walking to the lifts and not wearing masks at all.Nobody enforced within the hotel....very different to my experience in Spain recently where you were could not even walk into the hotel without having a mask on?
location brilliant. Rooms are lovely, beds comfortable, clean, lovely river view. Lovely buffet Breakfast. All staff were amazing from start to the end of our stay. If I needed anything they were there at hand for you. I would highly recommend this hotel.
A beautiful property in a lovely location. Check in was smooth and the room was spacious and clean. The food we ate was good value and tasty. Overall we had a very pleasant short stay and we would use the hotel again if we were back in South Wales
Great location, peaceful setting, helpful staff, good internet, clean rooms. As with most UK hotels, there is no ice maker for guest use, but the bar staff will provide ice in pint glasses.
Hotel was very comfortable and had everything you needed for a short stay. Room and bathroom had plenty of space. Amenities were available for guests and the staff was super friendly.
Everything was very lovely. I am from Newport but live in London. The hotel was the perfect place to relive memories and great for me meet up with childhood friends.
the room was fine and i enjoyed breakfast bit dear as have had cheaper at other hotels ,staff very friendly and helpful all of them including the cleaners
The room had the most uncomfortable beds I have ever experienced and I am not a hotel snob. If not in the middle you would fall off of the edges, literally.
Staff are kind and careful. Recommended hotel for the price!
Everything else about the hotel, and food was exceptional
Nice hotel, friendly helpful staff.
