My partner and I both love nature but don't get a chance to escape the busy city... This place is amazing - we had our dream mini-holiday! We were surrounded by nature, birds, sheep and stars! The hut is very cosy... What an amazing experience...

A more perfect getaway would be hard to find. From the glorious views, to the wonderful isolation, to the absolute spectacle of the bird feeder outside the window every morning... Honestly I found it difficult to leave!

The hut is surrounded by fields. There is a bird feeder about 10m from the window which attracts lots of different species of birds. The kitchen area is large (in a barn) with microwave and hob. The hut itself looks new but appears quaint. The...

Absolutely idyllic. The cabin is a gorgeous place for a getaway - perfect views, cosy fire, and a busy bird feeder right outside the window! The kitchen and bathroom have everything you need and are just a short walk away from the cabin itself. A...

A perfect antidote to modern living, with the opportunity to switch off and enjoy a closer connection to the natural world. To say it's peaceful is an understatement. From the sounds of the nearby river, the birds and sheep or absolute quiet,...

Traditional Shepherd's Hut built to historic design with views to the beautiful Black Mountains. Double bed, table, equipped dresser, fairy lights & cosy woodburner. Powered by solar & mains energy. Outside seating area with Kadai fire bowl/BBQ. Separate (unheated) rustic barn kitchen with sink, fridge, induction hob, kettle, toaster & mini-oven. Also a suspended clothes drying rack for those wetter Welsh weather days! Ty-Bach with WC, heated towel rail & electric shower 50 metres from hut. The space Back in 2013 we set about bringing the 17th century farmhouse back into habitation in a detailed conservation project using specialist local craftsmen. Developing the smallholding along organic principles, the farm is a haven for wildlife betwixt a stream and the River Dulais, with 4 acres of woodland and 26 acres of unimproved meadow land. We look forward to sharing our special slice of Wales with our guests! Our farmland balances wild spaces with careful and sensitive management using traditional coppicing, hedge laying and grazing with sheep and cattle. The farmhouse restoration is a model of conservation using lime mortars, plaster and paints together with ecological insulation materials. Our philosophy has been extended to the shepherd's hut, constructed by a Monmouthshire company who use local FSC timber and Welsh sheep's wool insulation. We have tried to consider your every need so you can stay in luxury whilst close to nature. Being the custodians of 30 acres of Wales we are trying to improve biodiversity and habitat restoration. If you are a nature lover then there is much to discover in our fields and woods from the diverse flora of hundreds of wild flowers, fungi, lichen & moss to a huge variety of birdlife (including cuckoo, woodpeckers, tawny owls, long eared owl, red kites, yellow hammers, redstarts and pied flycatchers) as well as brown hares, hedgehogs, foxes and badgers. The river is also home to White Clawed crayfish.
We live in a picturesque rural area where you can get away from it all. The hut is ideally located to explore the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. We are only 10-15 minutes away from the market town of Brecon and 25-30 minutes away from the famous book town of Hay on Wye and its famous literary festival held at the end of May each year. There are lots of local events going on throughout the year, including highlights such as the Brecon Jazz festival, Brecon Baroque festival, numerous local summer agricultural shows and fetes, the Greenman Festival, Talgarth Walking festival, Hay Literary festival & Winter festival to name but a few. The Brecon Beacons is an International Dark-Sky reserve, only the 5th in the world with this status! On a clear night just from outside the hut, you can see the Milky Way, major constellations, bright nebulas and even meteor showers. There are plenty of great places to eat in the area. Our favourite and most local, is the award winning Felinfach Griffin -2019 Dining Pub of the Year for Wales. Wonderful food, much sourced from their own organic kitchen garden, just 10 minutes' drive. Pre-booking is a must. They offer a vegan menu on pre-booking. In the summer months you can even walk there with time, good weather and the right footwear (c.50 minutes across fields and over a fence! Note the footpaths are not always kept clear) Other delights include Chapters (super special booking is a must & they offer a vegan menu on pre-booking), the Granary and the Salad Project all in Hay-on-Wye and a little further afield (50 minutes drive) Jules Restaurant, Weobley. Other local restaurants include HILLS Brecon, marketed as home of the Best Burgers Ever! and the award winning Three Horseshoes, Groesffordd. Getting around We are off the beaten track and a vehicle is a must
