This was a wonderfully restored Miners house. Felt both modern and traditional in places. Access to a nice garden and BBQ was most welcome. Even in a COVID stay, they supplied a lovely welcome pack. If you had kids, having a couple of sitting...

Steeped in history, Cranmore cottage dates back to the 1600s with stone walls, exposed beams, oak floors & enclosed gardens including stables & paddock. There is a cosy log burner for those romantic nights, an additional open fire and an Aga-Rayburn cooker in the large open plan kitchen-diner. Cranmore offers 3 large rooms with 2 bathrooms with beautiful views across the Nenthead countryside. We sleep 6 in 1 superking bed, 1 double and 2 twin beds (or 1 superking). Pets are welcome.
We value your privacy and we are not based on site but should you need any assistance we will strive to help you immediately.
The North Pennines has been described as England's last wilderness and we believe this is very apt. Nenthead's claim to fame is the highest village in England, around 1500 feet. The landscape here is magical and atmospheric. It changes from one minute to the other. An old mining town, Nenthead has a fascinating and rich history. This here is right in the midst of legendary walking and cycling to be had! There are many famous trails that pass very close to the cottage. Cranmore Cottage is actually on the Sea to Sea Cycle Route, England's most famous cycle route. The most famous walking trail would be the Pennine Way, which passes through neighbouring Garrigil and Alston. Opposite the house (see pictures) is Isaac's Tea Trail, a lovely walk through the open countryside and over stiles and through fields where rabbits play and your soul is renewed. Highly recommended - take the family for a road trip over the Hartside Pass to the Lake District. The views over Alston moor and towards the Lake District, the Solway Coast and Scotland will not likely leave you soon.
