Crofters Retreat self-catering accommodation is located in the small crofting community of South Galson on the far north west coast of the Isle of Lewis close to the end of Hebridean way cycle route. The beach is 5 mins walk with access to miles of coastal walking. The perfect place from which to spend time exploring Lewis & Harris Sleeping two it is ideal for couples, friends or solo travellers Nestled in the cobble-stone courtyard at Galson Farm & converted from the 300 year old barn, it's thick stone walls create a cosy rustic style bothy with extra touches to give you an authentic Hebridean stay that's a little more special. Offering open-plan living/sleeping space and views into the walled garden. A good nights rest assured in the comfy king-size bed with cotton bedlinen. Cosy up on the sofa to watch your Smart TV (access to Netflix bring your password) & excellent Wi-Fi The property has heating. Storage wardrobe, drawers, easy chair, hairdryer, mirror and plenty of books, maps & information to help you make the most of your stay. There is a separate fully equipped kitchen/diner ideal for cooking meals with a hob, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, fridge, table & chairs. Tea, coffee, milk and shortbread are provided The shower room has an electric shower, wash basin, WC, heated towel rail, complimentary toiletries, towels & bathrobes From the courtyard & garden enjoy coastal views towards the Butt of Lewis lighthouse and summer sunsets over the ocean. Outdoor seating a picnic table & a private parking space are provided Take advantage of the Guest House next door where you may purchase food & drink. Hi, welcome to the magical Isle of Lewis & our special area of Ness. We run a small Guest House next door so are mostly around if you need help, advice or local information. We are island crofters with a small flock of breeding blackface sheep, enjoy outdoor life along with cold water swimming, nature, travel, exploring & meeting people from around the world. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
If you enjoy a quiet rural location away from it all, close to the Atlantic ocean on the dramatic north west coast of Lewis with views of the Butt of Lewis lighthouse, then South Galson is the place for you. We are 25mins from Stornoway ferry port and 40 mins from the airport & located close to the finish of the Hebridean Way The beach is 5 mins walk away with access to miles of coastal walks. South Galson is ideal for walkers, birdwatchers, photographers, adventure lovers & love the great outdoors & to be close to nature. Lewis & Harris are one island so Crofters Retreat is a base from which to explore both, each day visiting a different location returning home to your cosy retreat. A short drive takes you to a selection of restaurants, a pub, cafes, convenience stores, petrol station, launderette and because we are located on the west coast is the perfect location for the following attractions 10 mins drive to Butt of Lewis lighthouse, Port of Ness, Eoropie beach, Ness Museum & St. Moulags church 30 mins to Gearrannan blackhouse village & Carloway Broch, 50 mins to the Callanish stones, 1 hour to Uig, 1 hour to Isle of Harris.
