The house was really clean and well maintained. I loved the garden and in particular the ability to sit outside and enjoy the view. It was close to the co-op for shopping and the kitchen was well equiped and easy to use. I was really grateful that they were able to set up the beds in the main room as two singles.

The cottage is a typical ex-miners cottage which has been fully renovated but is also full of character. It has two bedrooms up an open, but sturdy staircase, the king bed in the main bedroom can be split into twin beds if required and there is a double bed in the second room. There is a dressing table and storage in both. The kitchen is well-equipped with a washer/dryer and full size dishwasher and the modern shower room has also just been installed. Outside is a newly decked courtyard with a comfortable table and chairs for eating. We accept two small/medium well-behaved dogs but ask that they do not go upstairs and are not left unattended please (or bring a cage). A returnable deposit may be requested for guests bringing dogs for any extra cleaning deemed necessary. NO SMOKING or VAPING please on the premises - thank you!
Hi and thanks for showing interest in Dragon Cottage, Blaenavon. We live near Portsmouth, Hampshire and we purchased this little ex-miners cottage in 2017 for ourselves. Now we would like to share it with you and we have a local company who manage it on our behalf to make this possible. Blaenavon is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the first of the Valleys and conveniently 30 miles from the Severn Bridge which is now toll free. Local amenities are a short walking distance from the cottage and there are many places to visit on the doorstep with the beautiful landscapes of the Brecon Beacons a few minutes drive away and the Brecon & Monmouthshire canal which runs nearby. The cottage is in one of many residential streets that typically run up the sides of the valley in long terraces. It is generally a quiet area and we haven't experienced any disturbances. There is a lovely bar & restaurant called Butterflies a few steps up the hill (reservations recommended) and The Lion Hotel bar & restaurant is a short walk straight opposite the cottage which serves excellent pub & restaurant food. There are many local grocery stores, including a Co-op, a short walk away as well as a good selection of take-aways. It is nice that you don't have to drive anywhere if you don't want to! We suggest a trip to the World Heritage Centre which houses the Tourist Information and a popular cafe as a first stop. This is a short drive or 5 minute walk away.
