The cottage was lovely, homely and inviting, beds were comfortable and the coal fire was set up and ready for us to light upon arrival. Loved the little essential extras left there for us 😍

Harthopeburn Cottage is situated in a pretty upper Weardale village of St Johns Chapel with good amenities. This quirky cottage has been lovingly furnished, and with stunning views over the rolling countryside from the house. It is ideal for couples, families or small groups.

Although in Country Durham the location is close to the borders of Cumbria and Northumberland making this an ideal base to get out and explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Local buses in the area are operated by Weardale travel. The North of England Lead Mining Museum at Killhope is a five minute drive from the cottage, and is worth a visit giving you an insight into the lead mining era with underground tours.
