Location is fabulous - the decor is amazing. We loved staying at Hook House. Anna was super helpful with the key - as there is little mobile signal there - once on the wifi, all was good.

Nestled in the heart of historic Moretonhampstead 'The Gateway to Dartmoor', this Grade II-listed building has been thoughtfully converted into a comfortable 2 bedroom home. The space retains many original features, with the inglenook fireplace now housing a cozy woodburner. On your doorstep are the many amenities this friendly market town offers; a deli, authentic Italian pizzeria, pubs, restaurants, cafes, independent shops and a seasonal outdoor heated swimming pool.

Moretonhampstead is a historic Devonshire market town nestled in the northeastern part of Dartmoor National Park, 14 miles/22km west of Exeter. Given town status in 1207 by King John, it has the feel of a village with all the amenities of a town. There are plenty of walks, hikes, climbs and rides but you need only walk a few seconds from the house to sample the local hospitality. You'll find all the town has to offer within easy walking distance. Food and drink is seconds from the house whilst the seasonal heated pool is just a 2 min stroll. A minute's walk up to the church or down Lime Street starts you on a pleasant 40 mins circular walk northeast of the town. A km further takes you high up onto Mardon Down where you'll see great views of the town and the moor beyond.
