I went just at the start of the Easter break, and it was nice and quiet, I imagine it being a popular summer resort. Good facilities with plenty of eateries. Travelling around Southend was okay, gets busy during rush-hour. Great long walks along the esplanade and the pier. A lot of the shops were closed during close-season.

I lived in Southend for many years, this was a visit to see family and attend a family gathering. The town (I will never call it a city) is a shadow of its former self. I wouldn't go to Southend unless I had a specific reason, it just isn't as welcoming as it used to be and the high street is dead.
In the summer, short break with young children who want no more than the beach and this place would be ok. There are some decent restaurants but stay out of the town centre for those.

Going around visiting places. Eating out.
Going around visiting places. Eating out. Great taxi service. Hotel was not so good. Not disabled friendly. Fell in bathroom not built for anyone who is disabled.. Hurt myself quite bad. Screaming in agony. Apart from that. Will not be staying in this hotel again

Southend (bearing in mind our visit was in Winter!)
Southend (bearing in mind our visit was in Winter!) is actually really nice. We didn't expect much (we expected Morecambe, but got Southport!). There decent shops; the promenade was clean and open. We ate in The Last Post, but would certainly try other places when we visit again.
It is hard to give a fair representation of a town after a very brief visit, but it made a sufficiently good impression for us to want to see more, when the opportunity arises

We had a fantastic time but will never bist Toby carvery"s half way house again as staff were rude and couldn't deliver on an ice cream pudding and then charged us over our Groupon voucher people were leaving by the bucket load due to the apaulling service and badly trained staff a complaint to Toby carvery is in the process.
But other than that Southend on sea is a lovely place a great beach and super shopping centre and old Leigh had the best seafood I had tasted in a long time

Our room was huge, at the front of the hotel, we had a super comfy double bed, two chairs in the bay window, a full wardrobe with ironing board and iron, there was coffee/tea provision and a fridge had we needed it. The bathroom was generous and equipped with complimentary shampoo/shower gel. There is a hairdryer, plenty of sockets for charging phones etc. Our breakfasts were generous and delicious. The hotel is close to the Cliffs Pavilion, so also the seafront, and Southend itself is a 10 minute wander along the road or seafront.
The seafront apartment is a perfect location for those who want to stay close to the beach. It is very spacious, clean, and beautifully maintained. I could not have asked for a better place to spend my New Year eve, bearing in mind that it was booked on a short notice of 2 hours before we reached there. Yet we were provided with all basic necessities like towel, coffee, milk and a clean tidy apartment. Overall, we would like to thank the host for the wonderful stay and making us feel right at home with a cozy atmosphere.
Dream Nest is well located, it is easy to get to, there are three train stations within walking distance from/to the property ( Southend Central, Southend Victoria and Westcliff).
There are a good number of shops, restaurant and cafes close to Dream Nest, Southend-on-Sea high street is also near.
The landmarks like the Cliffs, Pavilion, Southend-on-Sea atractions are located within walking distance.
There are lovely cafes by the beach.
Overall, Dream Nest is a well located place to stay.
An excellent choice for a stay in Southend. The hotel has been recently very nicely refurbished. The owners are very friendly and helpful. A pleasant stroll along the seafront to the pier. I would recommend this hotel. Claire
Perfect location just a couple of minutes from the seafront and right next to Southend Central Station and bus station.
Excellent shower, room clean and very comfy bed. Also considering location was very quiet.
Lovely hotel with friendly staff and outstanding food.
Great views from the room.
Nice terrace area.
A short walk to the seafront and all amenities. We enjoyed going to the longest pier in the world.
I liked the area, bang in town and on seafront, workers friendly, nice room. They made up our room for my daughters birthday, and she loved it, It was so appreciated, thank you park inn.
Location was great, right on the seafront. Could also walk into the centre of Southend.
Very friendly host, great choice of breakfast, all freshly cooked to order
