FAQs about hotels in Aberdeen

Charm, Granite, Energy and Blooms

With a gently rolling landscape, Aberdeen moves elegantly between sandy beaches, picturesque stone houses, and blooming gardens. As Scotland’s 3rd-largest city, it is home to important universities, a busy harbour, and is a hub for the oil industry in the North Sea.

Walk along the Union Street ‘Granite Mile’, and visit some of the historic places like the Town House, Castlegate, or ‘Provost Skene’s House’. Don’t miss the Art Gallery and the Maritime Museum, and do some shopping in the city’s trendy shops. Choosing hotels in Aberdeen’s city centre allows you to explore this compact city on foot.

The charming Old Town is filled with bookstores, old buildings like the King’s College, and student cafés. The city won the ‘Britain in Bloom’ prize a stunning 10 times for its well-kept gardens.

The local airport offers direct train links with the central railway and coach station. Staying in a B&B, a cottage, or a hotel near Aberdeen Airport is a way to avoid the last-minute rush, while enjoying the surrounding green hills.

It was fun to have a lot of places where my family and I could eat, some good restaurants. It is definitely not the best place to go for shopping as the main malls are rather small with limited shops. Getting around was easy particularly by taxi. On the whole, it is a fun place to visit for sight seeing while moving around inside a vehicle and also for good dining experience.

Great place to both visit and use as a base to go everywhere else. Best place to park is union square where parking costs are pretty average. Overall traffic levels are not too high so there were no traffic jams experienced in the week we were there.we went on a trip to Loch Ness with Cabbies which turned out to be a great idea as the driver knew a lot about the area and the other places we called in to on the way and returning from Loch Ness. The only disappointment was we didn't see the monster!!

If you have more than a couple nice days days, definitely use one to make your way to Dunnottar Castle and walk back along the coastal path to the bus in Stonehaven. It was gorgeous. The Jewel in the Crown is a great Indian restaurant.

There is so much of interest that it makes an excellent city break. There is an very good art gallery and the maritime museum is very interesting. The university area is a lovely area to visit with a beautiful chapel. We visited Duthie Park and the David Welch winter gardens in the park and that really should not be missed . There are 3 Cathedrals with St Machar's being the best . We didn't have the best of weather but there was so much to see that it didn't spoil our break - a city well worth a visit.

The Art Gallery was really good - including the seats on the roof terrace for a cuppa. Provost Skenes House was really atmospheric, the Winter Gardens were amazing, and Dunottar Castle a few miles away was well worth the entrance fee, although the steps are a challenge. Lots of places to eat. I didnt do much shopping because the LEZ zone meant I couldn't collect heavier items in my car, which was a shame for local shops.

Both myself and numerous colleagues have stayed at the Cedars literally hundreds of times over the last 20 years, both for work and pleasure. The owners are extremely friendly and the rooms plus en suites are spotlessly cleaned. Breakfast is always excellent with an extensive choice of hot food plus fruit and cereals. It also has secure parking which is difficult to find at other Guest Houses and Hotels in Aberdeen.

My wife and I stayed at the Norwood Hall Hotel for 2 nights during a touring holiday in Scotland. The location was splendid, with delightful grounds on the fringes of Aberdeen, and our time there was enhanced by two days of wonderful weather. Our room and bathroom were large, airy and well appointed.
