St Augustine's Abbey - one of the most important monasteries in medieval England. St Martin's Church - the oldest English speaking church in the world. River tours along the River Stour - from March to October visitors can take a guided river tour on board a punt or small boat The Marlowe Theatre - one of the UK's leading theatre venues Westgate Tower and Gardens - a wonderful place to take a walk at any time of the year. Running between Canterbury and Chartham and only a few minutes' walk from the Apartment, is the Great Stour Way. Enjoy walking or cycling the tranquil three-mile long traffic-free route along the banks of the River Stour. Further afield, you can explore the beautiful Kent coast. The wonderful little fishing town of Whitstable is only 30 minutes' drive away - don't miss the annual oyster festival at the end of July. The Victorian seaside town of Herne Bay is also within easy driving distance. Fordwich - Britain's smallest town - is an easy 15-minute cycle or one-hour walk along the Stour Valley. It is packed with some beautiful historic buildings and you may wish to treat yourself to a special meal at the Michelin-starred Fordwich Arms. Howlett's Wild Animal Park, 10 minutes' drive from the property, is dedicated to animal conservation and a great day out for adults and children alike.
