Solar Lighting and Gas-Powered Amenities Roaches Retreat is a small, family orientated glamping site set at the foot of the Roaches, close to Leek in the Peak District National Park. Roaches Retreat Eco Glamping an off-grid site which means that all of our lighting is solar, with gas-powered showers/hot water and cooking is by a double gas burner or charcoal BBQ! Perfect for Walking, Biking and Photography Ideal for those who love walking and the outdoors, we are ideally located with miles and miles of rocky and scenic walks on our doorstep. The rocks of the Roaches are also popular with climbers, mountain bikers and photographers who relish the extensive scenery and uninterrupted beauty of the area. 6m Tents with Double Bed and Up to 4 Singles Our 6m bell tents are incredibly spacious and well equipped with a double bed, and up to 4 small singles with an outdoor kitchen area and bathroom with composting toilet. Outside you'll find a BBQ, fire pit with a log circle and picnic table for each tent - the perfect set-up for sunny daytime picnics or toasted marshmallows under the stars! With families in mind, we have created many opportunities to play out in nature. Last summer our smaller guests thoroughly enjoyed playing with the mud kitchen and chalk logs, with the older ones exploring and making use of the rope swing. For 2023 we plan to add more fun activities for our younger guests, including a wooden tepee, mud drawing easel and tunnels! Please note - our site is situated just off the main A53 Leek-Buxton road. Most guests love the easy access to local towns, pubs etc, but please bear this in mind if you feel it may pose a problem for you.

The Family Behind Roaches Retreat Roaches Retreat Eco Glampsite is a family venture, dreamed up by Nicki Baines as an idea to create a business that could support their family financially whilst creating a healthy outdoor work environment that the whole family can benefit from. Created from Years of Accommodation Experience With Nicki having a keen love of, and much experience in the holiday and accommodation industry, a glampsite was something that had been in the pipeline for some years. So with the help of her Dad, Ken (and permission to use his land for the site), work began on the site in the Spring of 2022. All of the work was completed by Ken, Nicki and partner Steve, along with children Marley and Arla Rose. Marley used his skills to create the mud kitchen, tested by Arla! First Guests Welcomed After quite a battle to obtain the relevant permissions, we finally welcomed our first guests in August with just 6 weeks of the season left to go! The off-grid, eco style of the site ties in closely with our personal values and beliefs of looking after our mother earth, taking families back to nature and sharing our love of the outdoors with all of the joy and health benefits that go along with it.

We are ideally located for the many outdoor activities that can be found directly on our doorstep! The Roaches are a haven for walkers, sightseers, mountain bikers and photographers. With miles of rocky walks and stunning scenery you will feel like you're on top of the world! In the nearby village, you will find ‘Peak Climbing School’ with its climbing tuition and ‘True North Cycle Hub’ offering local bike tours and adventures! Just down the road you will find Tittesworth Reservoir, with its lovely walks around the water, restaurant and children's play area. Here you can also participate in a variety of land and water based activities such as SUP, canoeing and bushcraft! For the thrill seekers, you will find Alton Towers within a 30 min drive of the site.
