Smithycroft is a beautiful thatched and stone detached cottage dating back to the 17th century. Fully restored with modern amenities, the cottage still has many of its charming original features including inglenook fireplaces.

The town is also ideal for dinosaur fans, putting you in easy reach of the Jurassic Coast. You can even have a go at digging for your own fossils. Cheddar Gorge is a spectacular landscape of limestone caves and cliffs. The caves are worth a visit, but what is equally impressive is simply taking a drive through the gorge itself. You’ll hold your breath as you drive through the awesome scenery. Whether you’re a novice at riding or an old pro, Drakes Farm Riding Centre is a short drive from Smithycroft. Glastonbury Tor is an evocative landmark that stands majestically above the rolling countryside. You can walk to the top to the 15th century tower and survey a view that stretches for miles. If you’ve brought your clubs along with you, Cricket St. Thomas Golf Club is not too far from Coombe St Nicholas. Just turn up on the day and you should be able to book a round of golf. Salisbury is an important base for the army, but the navy also makes itself at home down here. The Naval Aviation Museum near Yeovil is a fascinating destination for all the family, with a museum showcasing Europe’s largest aviation collection of helicopters and fixed wing aircraft.
