The Byre is a luxury 1-bed studio self-catering property situated in the stunning Waternish peninsula. Facing West, spectacular sunsets are a regular occurrence with clear views to the Outer Hebrides. Featuring a real log fire and a magical sleeping area with expansive views over Loch Bay, the property is perfect for a relaxing break in the Scottish countryside either on your own or as a couple.
Your host Iain is a Skye resident with a passion for the outdoors. We believe that Skye offers some of the finest food and landscapes in the world and we love being able to host guests and share this. Please do get in touch if you need any recommendations in terms of things to do or restaurants to visit. We want you to have a great time on the island and are always happy to help out!
The Byre is a 5-minute stroll away from Stein, a conservation village which was designed originally by Thomas Telford as a model fishing village at the end of the 18th century. Stein boasts the renowned Loch Bay Restaurant, the only Michelin-starred restaurant on the Island. Along the pretty terrace, you will also find Skye's oldest pub, the Stein Inn, which serves good food and local ales.
The Waternish peninsula itself is home to a wealth of beautiful shorelines to walk along, as well as forestry walks where you can sometimes view amazing wildlife including golden eagles, sea eagles, seals, dolphins, whales, otters and corncrakes. It also has several popular visitor attractions including the 5-star Skyeskyns (next door to The Byre), Scotland’s only traditional sheepskin tannery and showroom.
