When we arrived the house was warm and the keys east to find to get in. The hosts had kindly left supplies; Prosecco, fresh bread and butter for us to use. There was also tea, coffee and sugar. We lit the fire as kindling and logs had also been left. The first evening, we were able to use the hot tub. This was a real treat. We spent a lot of time in it, both during the day and in the evenings, watching the stars. The house is well decorated and was clean and tidy with everything easy to find.

Ripponden is set in the rural Pennine landscape, three miles from Sowerby Bridge and is made up of traditional stone-built cottages, high street shops, cafe and several pubs. The River Ryburn flows gently through the centre and pretty old weaving villages are found in the surrounding hills. Nearby is Hebden Bridge and the Rochdale Canal. Numerous listed buildings and National Trust properties are close by and the Haworth area is also a must for steam railway enthusiasts who will enjoy the thriving Worth Valley Railway.
