And it’s only a short walk to the iconic Lower Ferry which takes you across to the shops and restaurants in Dartmouth.

With its brightly painted cottages clinging to the hillside, Kingswear sits at the mouth of the River Dart with outstanding views to Dartmouth and the sea. Just a 5 minute ferry crossing from Dartmouth and a short car journey from Brixham (on the other side of the head), this peaceful village puts you right in the heart of South Devon and everything it has to offer. The Dartmouth Steam Railway is one of the area’s most unique attractions. From Kingswear, it winds along the River Dart before turning inland to reach Paignton. You don’t have to be a train enthusiast to experience how marvellous this little railway is. From the comfort of your window seat, you can take in the beauty of the South Hams. Why not hop off at one of the stops along the way and explore the English Riviera some more? With views across the river to Dartmouth and Dartmouth Castle, Kingswear’s picturesque waterfront is the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat or a drink. Despite its small size, the village has a handful of delightful pubs and restaurants and is just a stone’s throw from all that the neighbouring town has to offer.
