We enjoyed being in the center of Ballater, and proximity to restaurants, bakery, grocery, old train station. The room was smaller than I recall when I booked it, but adequate for our family of 3. Bathroom was spacious. While we didn't get a chance to eat there, it seemed to have a tasty Italian restaurant downstairs.
