These hotels in Aviemore are highly rated by couples: High Range Lodge Hotel, The Rowan Tree Country Hotel, and Cairngorm Hotel.
The Rowan Tree Country Hotel, Cairngorm Hotel, and High Range Lodge Hotel got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Aviemore.
Glorious scenery is the attraction, which holds for most of Scotland. There are restaurants, a Tesco, and a launderette which is only open for limited periods and not always when advertised. The steam trains run from the station, there are great walks nearby. This is May mind you, I can't advise on other seasons.
Aviemore is a small town on the edge of the Cairngorms. It does not have the character of, say, Pitlochry, but is a great base for exploring the mountains and lochs. Some good cafes, although most don't open until 9am; Cobbs Cafe does a good breakfast and opens at 7:30am. Two good sized supermarkets. A limited number of restaurants (I tried Tamanna Indian at the south end of town which I enjoyed). Numerous hiking and outdoors stores, as you might expect.
Perfect town to be a base for the Highlands. Lots to do round and about Aviemore, as well as the wider area. Great places to eat, especially "The Winking Owl". Not to mention the whisky trail.
Aviemore is the gateway to the mountain playground that is the Cairngorms National Park. I have been numerous times in both late spring and winter and no matter the conditions (which are quite changeable and can be rather extreme) it is a stunning stretch of wilderness. Aviemore itself offers a great hub to be able to explore from, with amenities and restauarants that cover all the needs you would want from a rural mountain town.
The scenery is stunning. People are nice in the neighborhood. Small shops and restaurants are around, great whisky tour around, mountains can do ski ( not too much snow this year) or hiking. Steam train was closed thou. But overall lovely and relax
Aviemore was not what I expected. . . .in fact I'm not sure what I expected. It has certainly taken the outdoorsy life to its heart as The Cairngorm mountain ski resort is just down the road (about 8 miles), and the Funicular Railway had just re-opened 4 days previously so a trip up the mountain was definitely on the cards (£22 pp). Unfortunately there was a distinct lack of snow on the day we ventured there. Loch Ness is another few miles away, but I;ll leave that trip for another day. A nice village, well spread out. Well worth the effort of getting up there.
Aviemore
On our arrival we received a warm welcome. Our bedroom was very nicely furnished and the beds were very comfortable. The en suite bathroom and bedroom were exceptionally clean as was the rest of the hotl. Breakfast the following morning was freshly prepared , well presented and very tasty. Throughout our visit all staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is easy to find on the main road and is only a few minutes walk to Aviemore centre.
Aviemore
On first sight the building looked (and was) more like a pub than a hotel. However, the atmosphere within the bar area in the evening was really good. Lively, friendly chat/banter amongst the locals and even included us at times. Breakfast and Dinner were plentiful, tasty and well priced. Rooms were comfortable and warm. Location was a good base for walking, skiing (if snow available) and whisky trail, plus general tourism by car.
Aviemore
From the very warm welcome we received to the best breakfast I have ever had at a hotel everything was just perfect. (home made muffins were amazing and the fresh fruit was wonderful). The room spotlessly clean with superb attention to detail. I really couldn’t ask for more and what a great start to our Speyside walk. if we are ever stay inAviemore again there is no where else we would book.
Aviemore
As described. Clean pod and very clean and warm toilet/shower area. Staff really friendly. Location perfect for Loch Morlich and Cairngorms. Pods very close together so need to be respectful of other people regarding noise level. Good lightning outside pods at night. Great facilities with Pine Marten shop and bar being so close. Definitely recommend. Great the place is dog friendly too.
Aviemore
Location is really good and walk to hotel is fascinating. Also, railway station and m&s kiosk which is 24x7 open makes location perfect for stay in woods. I will give thumbs up for very friendly staff who goes over and beyond expectations to make your stay perfect. Another point to be noted is few restaurants are available nearby that help you to save some time.
Cleanest hotel we have stayed in. Apartment had everything we needed and sofa bed was comfortable. Nice play park on site and great location within walking distance to local restaurants. Would recommend & will stay here again when we visit Aviemore.
Aviemore is very disappointing for places to eat, shops etc but the Morlich Hotel is highly recommended. Location is central with plenty of parking. Hotel was modern, clean and staff/food very good. Would return without hesitation.
Nice hotel set in lovely spacious grounds very close to the main street in Aviemore. Clean, spacious room. Good choice of food at breakfast, which was very nice.
