Welcome to Shortflatt Tower, a 13th century historic country mansion and one of Northumberland’s most beautiful residences, set in idyllic surroundings with well-tended walled gardens and ancient woodland. Set in a private estate, we offer comfortable elegance in an area of natural beauty. The grade 1 listed courtyard cottages are located in the curtilage of Shortflatt Tower. The stables and buildings have been carefully and lovingly restored and converted into 6 luxurious cottages with a mix of 2,3 and 5 bedrooms.

Property info

The original residence for the head groom on the estate. The wood-panelled room would have originally housed the tack for the horses, keeping the leather warm and dry, but it is now the warm and inviting living room. The large kitchen has a spacious area for dining and original stone floors. The ground-floor bedroom can be a double or twin for ease and has a luxury en-suite. The first floor offers two further bedrooms with en-suites and one with a luxury roll-top copper bath.

With a variety of areas to stroll or sit and relax in the garden and parkland, it is truly a wonderful space to explore. The Ancient tree-lined drive is a kilometre long, providing great privacy and uninterrupted views across the estate. The village of Belsay is just a short drive away. Here, you can explore the local businesses or visit Belsay Hall. There are lots of country walks, including Bolam Lake, or if activities are more your thing, there are lots to choose from in the surrounding areas of Newcastle.
