Attractions and nearby amenities: The nearest town to the Longbarn is Ruthin. Featured in the Rough Guide as a fantastic place to visit! This historic and atmospheric North Wales town has a number of pubs and restaurants, and you’ll find tourist attractions here too. Nantclwyd House is a Grade I listed, timber-framed mansion that dates back to 1435. You’ll also find contemporary arts and crafts on display at the Ruthin Craft Centre, where there’s a café and shop. The town of Llangollen is situated amidst the picturesque scenery of the Berwyn mountains and the Clwydian range, with the River Dee running through it. One of the best ways to see the scenery is by taking a ride on the Llangollen Railway, with daily steam train services running a ten mile stretch of the line. A short drive to the west of the Longbarn is the jewel in the crown of North Wales, the Snowdonia National Park. The landscapes are vast, but it’s not all about the mountains. You can play golf, go horse riding, visit a slate museum or relax with a cup of tea and a cake at Betws-y-Coed.
