The Priory is nestled within the historic town of Caerleon on the River Usk. Dating back to 1180, this hotel was originally a Cistercian monastery.

Beautiful building, exceptionally clean and spacious room. It was simply perfect. We were hesitant to have dinner at the restaurant after reading some reviews but we’re glad we did as the food was phenomenal! We are already planning our next stay at The Priory Hotel as our romantic getaway

The swimming pool in the health spa was a great bonus and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a very good selection, but the cooked food was losing its heat. Perhaps we should have booked an earlier time. We enjoyed the chicken in a basket snack food in the bar and that was ideal as we didn’t want a lot, having eaten earlier. Overall it was good value for what we paid with booking.com. It’s ideal for an overnight stay and we would stay again.

The room was nicely decorated and the staff who acknowledged me were pleasant. The breakfast room was clean and the cooked breakfast was well-presented.

I never imagined a major town in South Wales could be so run down. I checked out of the accomodation a day early and found myself in the High Street around 0830. I had an hour or so here before my train out of town and I saw nothing of interest to a visitor.

First time in Wales for me.
First time in Wales for me. Everywhere we went met with friendly people. Even the girl in Next chatted while serving me and laughed with me about my day.Family meal (14 of us) at TGF. Made welcome and served with a smile all evening.
Coffee shops also had staff interested in our stories.
Pity we live in Perth with 8 hour drive as liked people and places and a return trip maybe when newlyweds have family

The room was good, the pool was out of commission which spoiled the weekend because that made the jacuzzi impossible to gain entrance to due to the amount of people being let down on the pool. Food was perfect.

There is a lot to like about Newport and the surrounding countryside. My favourite feature is without doubt the famous 'Transporter Bridge'. You have the choice of numerous venues for both Rugby and Football matches and a great selection of local Parkruns.

There are many places to eat in Newport, there is also lots of shops and local bars with live music. It is close to Newport football stadium. It also has a little castle near the train station.
The new Newport market is a great addition to Newport, it had lots of small shops and a variety of different restaurants which you can order on the app and get it served to your table.
This hotel is simply superb. The bedrooms are enormous, the fittings and fixtures are excellent. The cleanliness is remarkable. The breakfast is very scrummy. The car parking is safe and secure. But the best thing about staying in this hotel is the quality of food available in the adjoining Dragonfly restaurant, served by staff who know how to make the customer happy. I have already booked up for my next stay in this hotel and would recommend it to anyone planning to stay in a hotel in Newport.
Location perfect for the town (3 mins walk), Roman sites and museum (10 mins walk), and a bus-stop outside the hotel to get to/from Newport. (Although, taxis also easy to get.) The property has recently been refurbished. A bit odd having the wash-basin and shower cubicle in the room rather than ensuite, but not a problem. Friendly staff. Breakfast choice is cereal and full English, or cereal and full English - which suited me, but some might find the choice limited.
This hotel is in a good location, 5-10 minute walk from the town centre. We had to stand outside and call a number for someone to come check us in (luckily it wasn't raining) then our actual room was 4 doors down the road. The room was a good size, clean and quiet. There was an iron, ironing board and hairdryer which were useful little extras. The shower is amazing, really powerful!
Firstly, The service was perfect from the receptionist to the waiting staff in the restaurant it was amazing. The room was great and the hotel in general was very quiet and cosy. The food in the restaurant and the breakfast buffet was a 9/10. Definitely recommend Mecure Hotel Newport and will definitely be returning sometime in the future.
The hotel is right at the centre of Newport, staff are very friendly, they went the extra mile to make us happy. check in was very quick, wifi is fast. rooms are super clean, beds are comfy, we had a good night sleep. Breakfast this morning was English breakfast buffet and was just on point. price was very reasonable. highly recommended.
In general I was very impressed with everything at the hotel.
The rooms were not large, but well laid out & so that compensated. The bed was very comfortable and the self serve breakfast excellent & well worth the money.
Newport does not exactly have an over abundance of even half decent hotels, so this stands out even more.
We stayed for a six nations match and for the price it was fantastic. The train station is around 60 meters away with a regular service to the Cardiff. Staff were very helpful when we wanted to drop bags off early. I was surprised at how quiet the room was. I'd stay at the hotel again for a six nations match.
Very friendly and relaxing hotel. wonderful countryside location. great family swimming pool and spa facilities. comfortable bar and residents dinning and games areas. large free car park for guests. easy access to Newport city centre. Excellent Raods and tail transport.
Location, staff are very friendly. Comfortable beds with a nice shower. We were in room 12,sleeps 3 and was a pleasant room. It's a reasonable price. If we come to Newport again which is unlikely, we would stay here.
Bustling hotel having recently gone through and extensive refurb
Good bar - large screens for sports
Well fitted out rooms with toiletries
Generous buffet breakfast - central location in Newport
The location of the hotel is only a short walk away into the town itself just over the Newport Bridge, the surrounding area is also quiet so you don't get any disturbances to your stay.
Another wonderful stay at Parkway Hotel. Staff very friendly and accomadating, especially Mel on reception. So glad they still serve their custard slices.... exceptional
