The Writers Cottage is a homely and romantic period curiosity huddled into the heart of the bustling little mill town of Holmfirth in the breathtaking Holme Valley, on the backdrop of the Pennines. The cottage is simply furnished, unique and honest with plenty of character, period features. Central location within 2 minutes walk from amenities & restaurants. South facing with beautiful views across to Holme Moss. A great base to explore Yorkshire and Peak District Park
I’m a parent to five teenagers who enjoys family life, the arts and nature. I’ve had a great career as a teacher and education advisor, now developing course as director of Cre-Educate. Also a qualified climbing instructor, vegetarian, biker an eclectic mix of everything. Currently enjoying meeting people and creating unique spaces to host guests who enjoy the simpler things in life.
The Cottage is set in the heart of the bustling little mill town of Holmfirth, though just off a quiet road and within 150 meters from the center with great walking, cafes, restaurants book shops and a good selection of charity & local shops with resident artist venues. Holmfirth is a very friendly traditional Yorkshire mill town with its roots dating back to the industrial revolution and Luddites. Main Attractions Good walking and food. Picturedrome live music venue 300 meters away National Coal Mining Museum 11 miles Yorkshire Sculpture Park 13miles The Hepworth Gallery 19 miles Holmfith Vineyard 2 miles The Carding Shed & Oil Can Cafe - 1 miles The Strines -7 miles Hathersage Outdoor Pool Trans Pennine Trail - off road cycle path 4.5 miles Penistone Paramount picture house - 7 miles Royal Armoires 25 miles away Holmfirth has a bus station with regular services to local villages and major towns and cities like Leeds, Manchester, sheffield and Wakefield.
