Lovely boutique antique guesthouse that has been meticulously updated. Very nice little touches like heated floors in the bathroom, nespresso coffee. Very comfy bed. Would definitely stay here again.

The privacy, the quiet, the history, the room amenities - coffee, tea, minibar, the bed, the heated bathroom floor, the ceiling light

Stunning and quaint room with great atmosphere and quietness, a true rarity for the temple bar area.

Decor of the room and Denise was wonderful. Location was great.

Simply put... Amazing from start to finish. We were greeted at the door by Denise and shown to our suite and she took the time to explain how everything works and which key goes to what door. She was super pleasant and knowledgeable and went out of her way to ensure we understood everything. In addition, provided her number as a 24 hour contact number in case anything came up. This is not your typical hotel it is a beautifully appointed classic home with only suites. The only thing that would’ve made it better is if we stayed another couple of nights. The best night sleep I’ve had my entire trip (3 weeks)!!! Thanks Merchant House and Denise for a wonderful stay in Temple Bar... will definitely book again next trip!!

I would come back to Dublin just to stay here! Perfect location. Super clean. Super comfy. House manager was exquisite! The room exceeded expectations!

The room was lovely with attention to detail that made our stay pleasant. It was spacious, the Wifi was strong, and the location was convenient to visit places we wanted to see.

Bed was comfy. Amenities were good (mini fridge was a definite plus). Great location for exploring Dublin's diverse neighborhoods. We were initially concerned about the lack of external photos and 24 hour front desk, but it was just cosmetic! Don't judge a book by its cover... the room was far more spacious than any other in the city for the price.

The room was clean and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable. The location in Temple Bar is great.

Julia was excellent, kept our room clean and tidy and was very friendly and accommodating. She gave us good recommendations for dinner. Would defintely stay again! Room was very quiet and relaxing, felt like we were miles from Temple Bar although it was a 30 second walk from us.

The Merchant House was built in 1720, originally a Merchants House and very early Georgian . The building was extensively restored to its former glory in 2006. An award winning restoration received much acclaim when finished as its 'Dutch' type roof is very unique for a building in Dublin. The upper floors were extended / soundproofed and luxury Guest Suites were provided. Emphasis on conserving heat and the reduction of noise from outside was dealt with. Sound proof internal windows were fitted in the entire building thus giving our Guests a comfortable sound sleep. Temple Bar outside may be vibrant, but our Guests enjoy a relaxing sleep in their comfortable cosy king size beds.
As a ardent traveler myself, I like to stay in quality , spacious and luxurious accommodation when I travel abroad. When the opportunity came up to purchase this very early Georgian building in the center of Dublin city. I thought it an ideal spot to convert the upper floors to luxury Guest Suites. Its first owner was a well known 'Merchant' in banking circles with a stately home in the Country. Luxury Guest Suites were installed and our reputation for affordable 5 star accommodation was forged.
The Merchant House is situated in the Temple Bar area of Dublin City. This area is over 1000 years old and is the 'Cultural' capitol of Dublin. Temple Bar is a Bohemian area, festooned with small Shops, Eateries, Restaurants, Markets, Clubs and Theatre' s. Renowned for it Bar, night life and vibrancy . The well known 'Ark' for children is one minute away from The Merchant House. Restaurants are in abundance offering huge choices at moderate prices. Temple Bar is a 'busy' area , well lit, CCTV everywhere and relatively secure as police patrol constantly. Yes, it is vibrant, sometimes noisy but buzzing with atmosphere. The Temple Bar area is fully serviced by all modes of transport to and from Dublin Airport. At The Merchant House we have installed 'Soundproof' windows so our Guests can retreat from the outside 'buzz' and enjoy the luxury of their Suites.
