Its a mind blowing experience. One must see the Golden Temple in the life time. Superb to see at night. Bagha border pared, Jalianwala bagh are inspiring, proud moments. The local market and restaurants around temple ate good.

Please people be careful when visiting Golden Temple. I was standing in que to go inside ..the que was 3 hour wait! But worst experience was that we got pushed from behind forcefully! Amritsar is a significant place in the history of India and I was very pleased to finally visit there and visit the Golden Temple, Jallianwallah Bagh and the Partition Museum to gain an understanding of the complex history of the time around Independence. As a foreigner born in one of the 'colonies' understanding history is important for locating ourselves in chains of events that impact later generations. I am deeply moved by the tragedy of the Partition and the untold and unimaginable loss. It is important that we acknowledge the past as it shapes our ability to move forward.

Though the location is not easily reachable as the Punjab police has blocked the roads going towards Harmandir Sahib/Golden temple. You can still reach the hotel by Autorickshaw by entering through Sultan gate near the hotel. Tarun at the reception was friendly and even took us to wagah border at a reasonable price.
