Ol Losowan means ‘place of the buffalo in Samburu’ as Julie is a lucky survivor from the buffalo on the wall of the main house. It is the home of Julie Church, (a fourth generation Kenyan, survivor, swimmer, marine and wildlife conservationist, adventurer, and founder of Ocean Sole the Flipflop Recycling company and now Seas4Life Safaris Conservation and Education) who has created a unique and beautiful place to stay in Nairobi by lovingly building two cozy double cottages (each with ensuite bathrooms and small kitchens – perfect for making that essential early morning coffee and private garden) Ol Losowan translates to "place of the buffalo in Samburu," inspired by Julie's connection to the buffalo depicted on the wall of the main house. Julie survived a deadly buffalo attack, is a fourth-generation Kenyan, professional marine guide, scuba diver, swimmer, marine and wildlife conservationist, and adventurer. She is also the founder of Ocean Sole, a flip-flop recycling company, and Seas4Life Safaris. Julie has lovingly created this unique and welcoming retreat in Nairobi, we look forward to welcoming you!

Our accommodation offers an unforgettable outdoor experience, surrounded by a butterfly-filled garden frequented by playful monkeys, warthogs, bush babies, tree hyrax, and vibrant birdlife. Our friendly family dogs are also here to greet you, adding to the warm and inviting atmosphere. If you’re looking for affordable yet charming cottages in Nairobi, Julie’s private home is available for larger groups and families. It serves as a welcoming haven, perfect for unwinding after a long journey. The property features one main house that sleeps 7, 3 cottages that sleep 2 in each, and a glamping safari tent with space for 2. All units have their own bathrooms and kitchens, and there is a gorgeous shared pool, gazebo and sundowner area for guests to enjoy. Primarily offered on a bed and breakfast basis, our team is delighted to recommend local dining options and arrange transportation for our guests. Sundowners can be arranged on any evening at 6 PM around the outdoor fire, where we enjoy the company of our garden’s bush babies (greater galagos). Savor a glass of wine or beer while sharing stories under the stars. Please note that this experience and any of our exciting excursions should be booked in advance.
