Not as bad as some might think. Some people are afraid to set foot in Nairobi - no doubt it seems very funny to people who live there, although nobody ever tried to convince me that the city is super-safe. However, city center during daylight feels as safe and normal as any of its kind, and there are enough attractions for a day or two. Don't walk alone at night - but you won't feel any desire to, as there is nothing to see at night. Good: you can visit giraffe center and orphanage for young elephants, eat cheaply, enjoy surreal sensation of seeing marabus flying over your head right in the central park/garden, or a warthog on the roadside. Another nice area of town is Karen, where most of wildlife attractions are. Bad: Like I said, I felt pretty safe walking around center during daylight, people are helpful, especially the ladies, and there is actual walking sidewalk which isn't all covered up like in Asia. HOWEVER, it's hard to enjoy walking as the smell from the cars is horrible, the gas they emit is pitch black, so walking around on roadside is unpleasant experience. For BACKPACKER another downside is that you either need taxi/uber to get anywhere (expensive) or use matatu system which works great for locals but hard to figure out for beginners - I managed, but it was much more stressful than in Souther Asia.
Locals don't use fan or air conditioning,u have to stay longer for mist hotels to buy u a fan with the money paid for hotel. So hard to find good food, good place to eat can be just as expensive as in ones own country
Great city, nice people, good places to eat and to find good music. Uber it’s easy to use. Urban eatery good food, Bistro nice music ( go in week to enjoy live music - weekend too packed), Alchemist good food and live music ( my favorite) . Upperhill , Kilimani, Kileleshua good areas to find a place to stay like hotel or apartment . If you go in town , better accompanied by someone.
Nairobi us one of the most beautiful place in the World. It was my second travel to it and i could see the progress in this city development. It is very nice place to spend the holidays. The nature is awesome and colourful. The safari is the best one in Africa, use the opportunity to see Mambasa and Fort Jesus along with Nairobi.
Nairobi is a cool cosmopolitan city with tonnes to do. The traffic is a downer but otherwise it’s pretty great. Try the alchemist for fun cocktails and one of the many Masai markets for cool souvenirs.
The city is immense. My trip only provided me with a small glimpse as we left Nairobi for Ol Pejeta and then the return trip. What I saw was an amazing amount of cultural and historical pride, efforts to improve city life. The vehicle/air pollution was difficult to handle. Traffic flowed extremely well which was amazing due to the shear number of vehicles. I was very grateful to have a driver. Driving in the city would have been overwhelming and difficult.

The staff was excellent with warm welcoming smile especially the receptionist lady Jane. Hot water in the bathroom was flowing smoothy which was a plus for me. The bed was comfortable and entire place decor was Africanyised and gave a welcoming and relaxing mood. Location is good and distance to the CBD is close Thanks Kahama Hotel, I'll surely come back again on my next visit to Nairobi.

Friendly and helpful hosts WiFi was awesome - good enough to use Uber Guard at the door Easy walking distance to the Nairobi museum, City Market, restaurants (about 10 min walk) They arranged for a taxi from the airport for $20 which was a great deal because we arrived during rush hour and it took 2 hours to get there. (It’s only 20 min to the airport when not rush hour.)

Standards are good and its second time I've been there after an early check out at another Westlands Hotel I was glad to come back to Golden Tulip. Guest services phones you when you get to your room and checks if you are all okay - I thought that was good Breakfast always good. Clean smart room away from hustle and bustle is great.

Fantastic, I've travelled all over kenya and this place is secure, clean and friendly. Anyone who gives this hotel a bad review has been living in the Hilton hotel for too long. Excellent. As for the reviews about the area being dodgy, this is Nairobi, all cities can be dangerous. Be careful and have fun. I did.

2 minutes from the airport, next to a national park. If you’re lucky you can see giraffes from the pool. If you want to visit Nairobi though, you should go somewhere else, closer to the city. For a night before a flight it couldn’t be better, beautiful hotel
