The hotel was down by the riverside, which was nice. The staff were very helpful with getting us taxi's and also scooter rental. Great rooftop view. The rooms were really clean and we were delighted that we could watch English Premier League football on the TV in our room which we hadn't had anywhere else in Laos.

Xuanmai Garden Resort, hotel in Pakse

Xuanmai Garden Resort is a 15-minute drive from Pakse’s centre. Guests can enjoy their meals at the on-site restaurant.

The owner runs the place by herself, assisted by some girls. She provides a good breakfast. Dinner was very nice as well. The doorlock appeared not to lock at all, so a change of room was offered and accepted. The rooms are very quiet, while the resort is just 'off the main road'.

Pakse is a small, dirty town without a clear center.

Pakse is a small, dirty town without a clear center. Few good restaurants, and few people speak English. You have to have a scooter to get anywhere. There are interesting places in the area but not many of them are properly developed. Rather, their best years are behind them. On my next visit to Pakse would like to avoid Pakse city.

Unfortunately I was only in Pakse for 1 night. The city has lots to do and lots to offer, however isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing. Many come here to do the Pakse loop which is supposed to be great.

Pakse is slow and peaceful that is suitable for those who want to have a travel with slow-paced. Sitting and chilling on the banks of Mekong river where is the border between Laos and Thailand. You could feel the great of nature.

I have been to Pakse a number of times, it backs onto the majestic Mekong River. I can thoroughly recommend both the Champasak Grand Hotel and the Pakse Hotel. There is a lovely market located in the centre of the town where you can buy nearly anything.

Decent restaurants and good to get convenience items, but...

Decent restaurants and good to get convenience items, but not much to do directly in the town. Good hub for day-trips via motorcycle or tour, but expect to get really dirty if you do them via motorcycle as only the very largest of the main roads are paved outside of the town. Not much nature nearby, all flat areas have been cleared and converted to farmland. It takes a bit of work to get to areas with a bit of nature, but it's nice once you do so. Once you're out of the town the small villages vary from somewhat picturesque and mostly traditional to modern cement. Definitely worth exploring the countryside via motorcycle. Waterfalls are nice, but can be a bit crowded (by local standards).

We chose the more expensive 4,000 island tour expecting to see more. We spent 5 minutes at 2 waterfalls, which are impressive, in an 11 hour day and that was it! The rest of the day, 10hrs and 50 minutes was spent waiting for, or sitting on, old buses and vans. The much cheaper Bolonan plateau would have shown us villages, crafts and agriculture and been much better.

Great place to stay if you're in Pakse. Tina, the owner is super friendly, gives you some good advice on things to do, arranges a motorbike for a fair price, arranged bus and boat to Don Det and is overall good company to talk to. She even invited me to join her and the other staff/friends for some food and drinks. Which was a very nice local experience. The rooms are also good and the guesthouse is located near some streetfood, markets,...

The room is spacious with a spacious bathroom. It is well designed and furnished. No glass window but shutters that open out onto the expansive garden. The food is great - Vietnamese, Thai, Lao and more. Ngoc goes out of her way to give personal attention to every guest and to make sure everything is okay and to arrange tours or tickets. was in a perfect location, and Xavier and his Wife were the best hosts. The room was also lovely and clean and the bed was very comfy! They sorted our motorbike rental in advanced for the pakse loop and gave us lots of information for it. They let us leave our bags while we did the loop and even did our washing for us whilst we were away! The breakfast was also amazing and some of the best fresh bread we have had in Laos

the facilities were amazingly good! lovely rooftop pool and bar. the hotel is located 10 minute walk away from the walking street it there are so many tuk tuk’s waiting outside the hotel if you choose to take one. we extended our stay here an extra night as the rooms were a lovely temperature (it was 40 degrees and extremely clammy outside!) the AC was a god send! bathrooms were clean and comfortable.

This is the premier hotel in Pakse. It is literally right in the centre of the town. You have all facilities possible here, including a restaurant that opens till late night. Everything else in Pakse closes very early. The hotel also helped me in booking a 3 day trip across Wat Phou, Bolaven Plateau and Si Phan Dong. Although a bit more expensive compared to other options in Pakse, we were truly happy.

This was our second stay in Pakse Hotel. The room and bathroom had been renovated which was a welcome surprise. The breakfast is still very good and lobby well designed. Staff is still friendly and a great view from the rooftop bar and restaurant. Pakse Hotel is centrally located. Excellent value for money. It was nice to be back in Pakse and Pakse Hotel.

One of the best hostels that I stayed in Laos. Super clean, organized and quiet (which is really important to me). Is close to the local market and many of restaurants. There is also a menu for breakfast with super affordable price. They also charge a fair price with you wanna to go 4K islands (the hostel next to it charge more expensive rates).

The staff here are absolutely incredible, such a lovely friendly group of guys who we really enjoyed talking with and spending time with. The hotel is nice and especially if you want to be a bit outside the backpacking scene it’s perfect. The rooms are nice, clean and the pool side is relaxing after a hot day out. Staff was nice and helpful even though the language barrier is a bit of a challenge. Easy to rent a scooter directly at the property.

The location is excellent - very close to the bus station and several great restaurants. The Hostel is super clean, all staff are very friendly and helpful. Staff arranged our ticket onward for a better price than the hotel around the corner. We can recommend it, but wouldn't want to stay in the room we had.
