Had a wonderful experience staying at the RestSafari. The place is set up in a big area where one can rest comfortably, and looks out on the jungle, where many animals (mainly buffaloes, peacocks, elephants, varanes, foxes) pass by during the day/night. Owners (and staff) are taking good care and are very friendly & relaxed. Nice campfires and surprisingly few mosquitoes. Slept really well in the cabana (great experience!) in a nice, natural breeze, and my room had a nice viewing spot to lay down and look out over the jungle area. Possible to take safari’s from here. The food/drinks served were also real good. Happy to have stayed/rested here. For directions: many (if not all) busses from Ella/Wellawaya to Matara/Tissamaharama will pass close by the RestSafari. Get off at 22 Junction (bus drivers know). It will cost about Rs. 200-350, and from the Junction you can take a local bus, tuktuk or arrange something with the RestSafari.

"Mallara Rest Safari" is our family eco-project: cosy accomodation and bar-restaurant at the territory, spacy lounge zones, and a huge garden with mango trees & vegetable farm. We have large parking area and free Wi-Fi, and also provide activities for our guests - safari & tours service, walks and cultural programs. We are experted travel guides ourselves and we will take you for a ride, showing really secret places. The resort have excellent location in quiet village, near jungle and only 5 km away from Mattala International Airport and along the new southern expressway. The project is focused on eco-tourism and as well is a perfect "chill out" way-point while you start / finish traveling all around the island. Here you find wild nature, authentic country-side life, wooden cabana house and multiple rest zones, and in the surroundings: a tree house in the rice field, river, lake and elephants migrating area. Sounds of birds, sunrise & sunset, clouds and stars, night bonfire and daytime relax - this can definitely make you happy. We provide FULL BOARD meal plan, so you don't need to worry about breakfast / lunch / dinner - it's included in the price: traditional Sri-lankan food, seafood & vegan menu, fruits and cocktails.
